Good morning sweet friends and readers!
January is drawing to a close and I hope that everyone survived the month. There were definitely some significant weather events both in parts of Canada but especially in the U.S. this month from horrific fires to freezing rain and ice storms to snow in Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, Florida, and heaven knows where else that doesn’t typically get snow. Yikes. Here in Calgary and apart from the Arctic blast a couple of weekends ago, we’ve generally had a mild January with temps slightly above average and very little snow. However, fear not, as we still have have February and March to go, and I’m certain that Ole Man Winter still has a few tricks up his sleeve for us.
With February practically at our doorstep and Valentine’s Day on the horizon, I am joining 17 other table stylists in a Valentine’s Day blog hop hosted by the amazing Rita from Panoply. Thank you Rita for all that you do in organizing these wonderful blog hops! You will find links to all the other stylists’ tables at the end of this post.
This table started with an April Cornell vintage-like table runner that I had seen many months ago but wasn’t willing to pay full price. I had actually sort of forgotten about it until a notice came across my Facebook about a huge Boxing Week sale. 60% off was music to my ears and was something I could live with. I wasn’t quite sure how I was going to style it, but playing with dishes is part of the fun of tablescaping. The color is a bit off here in this late day photo, but more accurate ones are further down.
I originally thought that I would highlight the brown in the table runner. A trip to Michaels sent me home with a dark chocolate colored ribbon and a pale pink bow garland. Once at home, the pink garland stole my heart even though it didn’t really match the pink in the table runner. However, I knew that I had some pink napkins that would probably coordinate with the garland and hopefully bring everything together. To me, the pale pink/almost blush suggested copper or rose gold as an accent. Out came the copper chargers and napkin rings, and some gold and white dishware.
The colors in the table runner are probably the most accurate here although you can’t see all that much of it. The pale pink napkins do pick up the color in the pink bow garland.
I’ve used both the dinner plates and salad plates in previous tables and I was glad to be able to use them again. The dinner plates feature winter fauna frolicking among bushes and trees. Can you see the deer, squirrel, bunny, and bird?
In setting this table, I discovered that copper flatware is quite expensive. Instead, I found this flatware on Amazon; the color was advertised as rose gold and in the picture it looked quite gold. I wasn’t sure what I would end up with. But now that it is here, I must say that I am really pleased with this set. The color is closer to copper than rose gold and I like that it is simple and sleek.
I have some thin gold taper holders that I’ve not been able to find since we moved. Rather than replace them (as they will turn up at some point), I opted for these ones in rose gold for the center. I then just wove the pink bow garland around the candles down the table.
Initially, I had used my rose gold wine glasses as stemware but thought maybe there was too much copper/rose gold on the table. I don’t know. What do you think?
In any event, I switched them out for our clear everyday wine glasses. These definitely have a more modern vibe and I thought they they tied in well with the sleek flatware and the simple copper napkin rings.
A bird’s eye view…

Oh Kim, I love your copper-inspired Valentine’s Day tablescape! I love how you mixed in the rose gold – so smart!!! Great find on the linen- she’s a beauty!! And I love all the pink touches.
I hope your candlesticks turn up! I hate when that happens to me – but as you say – these things always turn up at some point. But you didn’t need them – your table is BEAUTIFUL!
Thank you for inspiring us with your creativity! Wishing you a Valentine’s Day filled with love, warmth, and memorable moments.
Thanks so much for your sweet comments Jennifer! Yes, I do hope the candle holders turn up at some point – they are probably out in the garage but it is waaaay too cold here to go looking. So looking forward to spring. I hope that you have a wonderful Valentine’s Day as well!
Oh my! I LOVE that, Kim!! I know you know how much I love copper, and this is just beautiful! I, of course, love the copper stemware, but the clear is gorgeous too, and both are fabulous looks. You’re such a good shopper – how restrained of you to wait for a great sale on that stunning table runner. The pink as well as the copper are wonderful with it. I’m inspired once again – thanks for always coming up with such beautiful ideas! Hope you have a lovely Valentine’s Day my friend! Take care up there!
Hi Barbara. Yes, I do know that you love copper and why not since you do it so well! I liked the pink with the copper too and that I could also pair it with gold and rose gold was a surprise to me. Thanks so much for your sweet comments and visit my friend and wishing you a lovely Valentine’s Day as well!
Oh Kim, this table is gorgeous ! The new April Cornell runner is absolutely beautiful. I adore all of her floral patterns. The copper and pink color palette you chose is so striking. You have inspired me to try this color combination. The pink bow garland and candles make such a pretty centerpiece. It is always such a joy to hop with you!
Thanks for your lovely comments Shannon and I do hope that you try this color palette and have much success (playing with dishes is always lots of fun)! It was a joy to hop with you as well and I hope you have a fantastic Valentine’s Day!
Kim, What a beautiful use of unique colors for Valentine’s Day. You described your planning and the use of chocolate brown and blush. I love the runner and how you took us through the steps of deciding what items to use. It was spot on with everything, especially the flatware. The stemware of both kinds are perfect. The candlelight centerpiece and bows really give an intimate feel. So calming and delicate and accents the gold dinnerware. What a lovely choice for this special day. Have a great Valentine’s Day.
Marsha, thank you for your lovely comments and I’m really glad that you liked the table. I very much enjoyed your table too and it’s so great to be a part of these hops with so much inspiration from everyone. I hope you have a great Valentine’s Day too!
Kim, such a lovely Valentine’s Day table in its copper and rose gold tones! Both colors bring such warmth to tables, regardless of the weather outside. I don’t know the distinction between the two metal shades, but I love them both, particularly in the glow of candlelight. I like the simplicity of your table, and its elegance, and find the garland made of soft bows delicate, feminine and unusual. What a great find to complement the table runner. Thanks for sharing — I’m always intrigued to discover the process that other stylists use when designing their tables.
Thank you Sandra and I’m really glad you enjoyed the table. I tend to lean on the conservative side so I always worry about “too much” of a theme. I too always like to hear of the processes of others when setting tables and I’ll try to share more of mine. As always, it was a pleasure hopping with you.
Thanks for visiting and your comments and I hope you and hubs (and whoever else joins you) have a fabulous Valentine’s Day!
Kim, love the beautiful table runner, and the plate stack is 100%. The copper is such an elegant look, but have to say the dinner plates with their winter fauna frolicking among the trees really is stunning. The heart XO plates are the crowning touch. Beautiful and elegant table! Happy Valentine’s Day!
Sarah, thanks so much for your visit and comments. The winter fauna frolicking plates are favorites here and they were found in Superstore of all places. Superstore is sort of like Walmart and I don’t go in there very often so these were a fluke find. I loved your touching post and beautiful table as well. Happy Valentine’s Day to you too!
Kim, this is gorgeous! I so love and can relate to your comments about the logic we go through in setting a tablescape. I even mentioned how I nixed so much white in mine. But I really love your rose gold wine glasses too. The hardest thing there could quite possibly be photographing without reflecting the photographer in the glass!😉The rose gold candle holders and flatware are the perfect touched to the heart plates with gold. Those dinner dishes are so cute with the animals scampering along the edge – all familiar sights here in my region too. Your AC runner is the perfect amount of color pattern for this wintry tablescape. Your use of copper chargers and how you balanced the overall look really sparks inspiration for me. I have a set of copper chargers and when I pull them out, always lean toward fall. This shoots that theory all to pieces. So beautiful!
You and I have exchanged weather woes, and with today being the 30th of January, I am really counting on the worst of winter being over in my Zone 7a region. Nonetheless, playing with dishes is definitely a fun way of passing time inside. Thank you for bringing such a pretty table to our Valentine hop. I appreciate you and your thought process shared in creating this. Happy Valentine’s Day, Kim!
Hi Rita. I agree that copper and fall just seem natural together and I’ve tried before for a fall tablescape with the chargers and those wine glasses but each time they’ve gone back in the cupboard with me thinking that it’s too much with all of it. Glad the group seems to think otherwise lol. Yes, we are heading into another deep freeze starting tomorrow but I sure hope that 7a is done with the worst of winter. We are supposedly 4b here so we can pretty much expect more winter here, sadly. Thanks for your comments and all your fabulous organizing efforts on these blogs and for having me along. You are so appreciated too and I wish you and Mr. P. a fantastic Valentin’s Day!
Oh Kim, this is so beautiful! I love the new runner accented with the pale pink ribbon bow garland and the copper and rose gold! The copper chargers look so pretty with the white Valentine plate and winter froliking fauna dinner plates. The copper napkin rings and your new rose gold flatware are lovely. I too like the drama of the copper stemware, but the clear looks pretty too. The candles are gorgeous!! It is all absolutely beautiful!!! I hope you have a very special meal here! 💕
Jenna, thanks so much for your sweet comments. The general consensus from everyone that commented seems to be in favor of the rose gold wine glasses. So the next time I have an opportunity to use a copper theme, the rose gold glasses will be the choice. Loved your sweet little table for two as well. I hope you have a wonderful Valentine’s Day too!
Kim, I never would have thought of using copper for Valentine’s Day, but your table has proved it to be a good choice!! I love the mix of the copper, rose gold and pink, it is a wonderful combination. It all looks great against your runner and adorned with the pink bows. I hope you have a lovely Valentine’s Day ❤️
Hi Ann. I’m not sure that I would have thought of copper right off the bat but the lining of the runner is a rose gold color and when I got the pink garland home, it sealed the deal, so to speak. I thankful that everything came together and I’m glad you like it. Thanks for your comments and visit and I hope you have a lovely Valentine’s Day too!
Beautiful Kim! I love the rose gold and copper elements on your table to pair with your new pretty floral table runner. I’m smitten with your dinner plates with the woodland animals around the border! I like both the copper stemware and the clear modern goblets with your table. Your candles add such a lovely ambiance and really show off the texture of your hammered copper chargers. Such sweet heart plates too! As always, it’s a treat to join you at the table and hop with you. I hope you’re staying warm and cozy and wishing you a wonderful week ahead. ♥
Hi Mary. Thanks so much for your comments! Those dinner plates are favorites here too, especially in our long winters. I know that you and others down your way have had some really cold weather this month, so I hope you are staying warm and cozy too! A pleasure hopping with you as well, and happy Valentine’s day!
Kim, your copper Valentine table is so pretty. The copper chargers, rose gold flatware and copper napkin ring looks fabulous with your pretty plate stack. I really love the copper stemware, because I love bling. The rose copper candle holders are gorgeous against the AC table runner and darling pink bows. Such a romantic table with touches of love. Always a pleasure joining you on these fun blog hops. Happy Valentine’s Day.
Oh Linda, thank you for your sweet comments. Truth told, the AC runner turned out to be different in person than on the website so it was a bit of a surprise – especially the green tones. But it worked out fine. I know you love bling – and you do it so well too! Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a wonderful Valentine’s day!
I must admit I was very intrigued when I read the title of your post. I think your copper, rose gold, and pink accents work so well together for Valentine’s Day. I also LOVE your coquettish pink bows on your table runner: They are darling! Your table is so pretty. Brava!
Thanks so much Ricki Jill. Glad you liked the mixed metals and the pink together. I loved your table too but am having trouble leaving a comment. I’ll have to figure something out but in the meantime, happy Valentine’s Day to you too!
Kim, I love the warmth of your table. Of course, the AC runner is lovely. Copper chargers and white/gold dinnerware with the rose gold taper candles looks charming. I love the mix of metals and you did it so well. The bow garland gives the table a feminine feel, so pretty!
I love everything especially dreamy in the glow of candlelight! Happy Valentine’s Day, my friend!
Hi Pam! Yes, the candlelight was really nice and if we were to dine at this table it would be by candlelight. Happy Valentine’s Day to you too my friend!
I was taken with your lovely table runner in that gorgeous flower print. It really set the mood for the rest of the elements. Choosing copper was great as it added some metallic shine to the table without being too traditional. I liked the glass goblets with the tablescape but the metallic ones are certainly festive. Great flatware that goes so well with the rest of the setting. Happy Valentine’s Day!
Lynne, Thrifting Wonderland
Lynne, thanks so much for your visit and comments. I loved your table as well and love being a part of these fabulous blog hops. Take care and happy Valentine’s day to you!
Kim your table is lovely and if I am given a choice, I prefer the copper stemware…but both tables are great. I like the pink garland bows…so dainty ….great find. Stay warm…it is colder than normal here in Florida too…brrrrrrr. Always a pleasure to blog hop with you.❤️🥰
Hi Kari. Thanks for your visit and comments. I know that your neck of the woods has been very cold lately so I hope that you are staying warm too. It was a pleasure to hop with you too and wishing you a very happy Valentine’s Day!
Kim, I am smitten with your gorgeous table! I really love your copper chargers and the rose gold and copper complement each other beautifully. Blessings, Cecilia @ My Thrift Store Addiction
Thanks so much Cecilia – the copper and rose gold do add a warmth to the table, especially in winter. Happy Valentine’s Day to you!
What a pretty table setting – I actually prefer the copper stemware – glitzy!! The scattered bows are a cute idea! And I adore the flatware! i don’t have any rose gold or copper so I enjoyed this table a lot!
Thanks Patti for your visit and comments. I actually prefer the copper stemware too (as opposed to the clear) but wondered if it was too much, although when I brought the picture up, I remember thinking that it really wasn’t as bad as I thought. Next time. Happy Valentine’s day to you!
Wow, Kim…what a gorgeous table scape! I’m obsessed with the rose-gold copper….with the pink! Valentine perfection my friend!!
Thanks so much Charlotte. I hope you are staying warm and cozy over there and can’t wait to see your finished bedroom. Take care, my friend!
