Good morning sweet friends and dear readers!
Oh my gosh!! I was going to start this post by saying that I hoped everyone had had a calm and uneventful January with the most pressing things on people’s minds being the post-Christmas war on glitter and the upcoming tax season. But then early last week a winter storm developed affecting a large number of states in the U.S. and eastern Canada over the course of the week and weekend, leaving freezing rain, ice, heavy snowfall, and frigid temperatures in its wake. Yikes. My heart goes out to those unaccustomed to such cold and those without power. I hope that there are places where they can seek warmth and shelter.
On a happier note, welcome to the first tablescape blog hop of 2026, hosted by the lovely Rita, from Panoply. Thank you Rita! Today, 18 bloggers are sharing their table inspiration for Valentine’s Day and their links can be found at the end of this post.

Almost all of my tables begin with some inspiration piece. For this table, it was these tumbler glasses in the shape of beer cans (or soda pop cans) found at HomeSense a couple of years ago.

My guys love their craft beer and it doesn’t matter what the occasion is. Consumers of wine they are not. But no longer will they have to resort to this for their beer at the dinner table lol…

So I thought it might be fun to put together a Valentine’s table with the guys in mind. It’s definitely the dead of winter here now, so snow is always the reality at this time of year. And after the past weekend, I’m sure that snow and ice are part of many people’s reality right now. Out came some possible candidates that I thought might work for a more masculine table…

The place settings started with the white embossed snowflake plates on a black, red, and white tartan charger. The chargers sit on a snowflake “placemat” that is really a jumbo Christmas ornament.

Matching tartan napkins are encased in snowflake napkin rings. Simple flatware completes the place settings.

For the centerpiece, I imagined that their preference might be a rustic log cabin in the woods surrounded by snow-capped trees. A blanket of “snow” covers the ground sled which sits on a black and white plaid table runner. A mama deer and her baby have dropped by for a visit.

I didn’t forget about the ladies either (who would presumably be joining the guys at this table). I added ruby, snowflake-etched wine glasses, long-stemmed chocolate roses at each place setting, and heart-shaped candles at both ends of the centerpiece.

When the light outside is quite bright and there is a lot of reflection from the snow, it’s sometimes hard to photograph against the glare. It’s easier to see the etched snowflakes on the wine glasses from the inside.

Some table scatter of felt hearts, snowflakes, acorns, and the occasional deer and the table was done.

A bird’s eye view:

Sources:
Tartan chargers and napkins: Pier 1 brick and mortar store a couple years before they closed.
Wine glasses, tumblers, snowflake dishes, table runner: HomeSense all several to many years ago.
Snowflake placemats, trees, heart candles, chocolate roses: Dollarama.
Log cabin: I borrowed it from my mom (who turned 96 years old yesterday) and it was likely from HomeSense.
Black metal mama and baby deer: Amazon last year.
A bit of romantic ambience after dark…

The heart-shaped candles cast a rosy glow.

Thank you for visiting and wishing all the guys and gals and wonderful Valentine’s Day. Please visit all the other bloggers’ tables at the links below for some more fabulous Valentine’s Day insipiration!

Mantel and Table – How to Design a Valentine Table That Feels Luxurious

Kim, I absolutely love this fresh take on Valentine’s — designing a table “for the guys” is such a fun and creative twist! The tailored, more masculine elements make it feel unique while still keeping that warm Valentine spirit. You always do such a wonderful job balancing personality and thoughtful styling, and this table feels both welcoming and effortlessly cool. So fun hopping along with you!
Jennifer, thank you so much for your visit and sweet comments. It definitely sounds like you have a lot on your plate lately so I appreciate your time. I sure hope that crazy weather you are getting disappears soon. My SIL lives in Etobicoke and says that it has been brutally cold there, although I do not think that they got all the ice storms which are way worse than snow. Stay warm and cozy over there and may all your ice melt into a glorious spring and soon. It was a pleasure hopping with you as well, and wishing you a fabulous Valentine’s Day!
Kim, I’m sure your table delighted all the guys around it — as well as all the ladies! I loved the snowflake theme and was entranced by the embossed plates, the etched wine glasses, the “placemats” peeking out beneath the chargers and the napkin rings. The vibrant reds were a wonderful contrast and incorporated the iconic Valentine colorway. I’m sure everyone will gladly linger — I know I would! Happy Valentine’s Day
Sandra, thanks so much for your sweet comments. You are welcome to linger here anytime. I know that you did a red and white theme too, and it was fabulous. I think I like the reds even better after Christmas in January when it tends to be blah and drab. Kind of brightens things up. I’ve had the “placemats” for years and was absolutely stunned when none of them broke through our move. Thanks for stopping by and wishing you and Greg a fantastic Valentine’s Day!
First of all, the happiest belated wishes to your Mom on her 96th birthday, wow! How very special. I love the yin and yang of how you made this Valentine table for the guys AND the girls. It is a very fitting to have the snowscape scene with the centerpiece cabin (super cute!, especially at night lighting) and trees, deer on the sled, and the snowflake plates and placemats. The red stemware is really pretty in the cut from the inside. The runner and tartan chargers and napkins are still beloved patterns throughout winter. This makes a very handsome and also feminine look, and that’s something I frequently try to achieve in my tablescapes. Kim, thank you for setting such a beautiful table and joining in this hop. It’s a pleasure to have you among the group of such talented tablescapers!
Rita, thanks so much for mom’s birthday wishes. She’s still shopping like a trooper although doesn’t buy much these days. I had a lot of trouble trying to photograph the etching on the wine glasses, I guess it was all the glare that day. I’m glad you liked the yin and the yang of the table – it can be hard to achieve sometimes. Thanks for your lovely comments and for hosting these fabulous blog hops. You are the best! It’s a pleasure to be among this talented group. I hope you and Mr. P. have a fantastic Valentine’s Day!
Haha – I love your January priorities – taxes are almost done, but I’ll be dealing with glitter for the foreseeable future! What fun glasses. They’re a great inspiration for a table, and I’m sure your guys will appreciate not having to drink their beers in wine glasses, poured or not! You are so creative – I love your centerpiece – and of course I love your white on white textured plates! With the red accents, it’s a fabulous table! (Plus, your mom’s house looks beautiful all lit up! Happy Birthday to her!) Too bad I can’t pop up with my guy and claim one of those chocolate roses! I’m inspired to try a red and white winter table now! Happy Valentines, my friend!
Barbara, yay for you with taxes almost done – that’s impressive! Here, my glitter is almost gone but I haven’t even looked at my taxes lol. Thanks for the birthday wishes for mom and you and your guy can pop up here anytime for chocolate roses. I’d love to see your red and white winter table if you do one; I imagine it would be fabulous. Thanks for your sweet comments my friend, and have a wonderful Valentine’s Day!
You had me at the mention of craft beers for the men in your life!! My boys are all big fans of quality craft beers; they even have an app to rate them. Of course, I am always drawn to a good plaid! I love your snowy scene as the centerpiece, and it is adorable all lit up. While in Ohio, we are accustomed to snow, but we normally have 4 or 5 inches, not the 14-16 inches we got in the last couple of days! Happy birthday to your mom!! I hope you have a lovely Valentine’s Day❤️
Ann, I’ll have to tell they boys there’s an app for rating craft beer lol! Thanks for your birthday wishes for mom. I’m so sorry for all your snow – that’s a lot, even for us here. I’m a bit of a weather geek so I’ve been following along and I think it’s going to be a cold February as well. But then, El Nino starts to kick in and should warm things up. Something to look forward to. Yay. Thanks for your lovely comments on the table. Stay warm over there and have a wonderful Valentine’s day!
Kim, it is so kind of you to think of the men folk in your family. I love your choice to make them feel right at home, starting with the wood sled with the stone cabin, deer and ice trees for the centerpiece. Of course, plaid charger plates make a great statement for the gentlemen at the table. It works so well with the striped runner. Your unique “beer can shaped” glassware is a wonderful surprise. I have not seen anything of this kind. Of course, the hearts and chocolate reminds everyone at the table, meaning the men, that it is a Valentine’s Day table about love and romance too. I also love the winter elements to the table. It is definitely winter here in Wisconsin. So bitterly cold, but your table would make anyone feel warm and cozy. Happy Valentine’s Day.
Marsha, thank you for your sweet comments on the table. Sadly, two of the three boys are away and probably won’t get to see the table, but there’s always next year, right? I found the beer can glasses a couple of years ago in HomeSense (your HomeGoods) and I’m pretty sure I remember seeing them again last year too. And when my mom and I were in HomeSense this past weekend, they had them again. They also work for the canned coolers and soda pop. I’m sorry for your cold weather – it seems like it’s across the south and eastern parts of the US. I hope it moves off sooner rather than later. Stay warm and cozy, and wishing you a happy Valentine’s Day!
So creative and fun and unusual. You’ve shared great ideas with us! I enjoyed your table immensely .
RS, I’m so glad you enjoyed the table. Thanks for your lovely comments and Happy Valentine’s Day to you!
Love the use of plaid and the winter theme for Valentine’s Day, Kim. It’s so cold and snowy everywhere the red really warms you up and makes you happy to be toasty warm inside. Loved the long-stemmed red roses tucked into the napkins. It’s nice for the guys to have a special table setting that they are willing to share. The heart candles are great and remind us love is always at the table. Have a wonderful Valentine’s Day!
Lynne, Thrifting Wonderland
Lynne, I’m so glad that the table makes you happy to be toasty warm inside. We have long winters here we are no strangers to cold and snow. It was fun setting the table for the guys and I’m happy that I was able to find a few romantic things for the ladies too. Our guys love beer but rarely, if ever, indulge in chocolate so the ladies will each have two roses of their own lol. Thanks for visiting and for your comments. I wish you a wonderful Valentine’s Day too!
Kim, happy 96th birthday to your precious mother! What a wonderful blessing to still have her! A table for the men was a great idea and you did a great job making it masculine, but still lovely for the ladies! The sled was perfect for your snowy scene. The cabin, the deer, and the trees add sweet and charming touches. The white embossed snowflake plates are fabulous pieces that you get to enjoy during your cold winter season. The long-stemmed chocolate roses is a lovely idea for the ladies! Your table is ideal for couples. There is something for the guys and something for the ladies! I hope you are staying warm, my friend! Happy Valentine’s Day ❤️
Hi Pam. Thanks for the birthday wishes for mom – we are soo happy that she is still with us! The snowflake plates are definitely favorites of mine, especially since our winters are so long, as you say. There are many opportunities to use them. In the end, I couldn’t forget about the ladies at the table so I’m glad it came across as something for both. I hope you are staying warm and cozy too, my friend, as I’ve heard that there is some pretty cold weather where you are. Happy Valentine’s Day to you too!
I’m a plaid lover, so your use of red plaid on your Valentine’s Day tablescape is so pretty! I also like how you shared the nighttime photos so we can see the little cottage and tree illuminating your table. So sweet AND cozy!
Thanks Ricki Jill! Coziness is good this winter it seems and speaking of that, your tea in the library post was just fab. I’m still thinking about that gorgeous room and how cozy it was. I hope you have a wonderful Valentine’s day amidst all your renovations – cooking must be a challenge. Take care and happy Valentine’s day!
Bravo Kim on creating a table for the men too. I have included the men in my Valentine brunch too. I will be sharing their table at a later date. Love the wintry look and your snowflakes embossed plates. Even the snowflake napkins are adorable. Most men love beers and you have knocked it out of the park for them. Love the pops of red and the chocolate roses for the ladies. Always a pleasure joining you on these fun filled blog hops.❤️
Thanks Linda. I can’t wait to see your table for the men – I’m sure it will be fabulous!! My guys definitely love their beer lol, so it was fun to design a table around beer glasses of all things. It was great hopping with you too – there is always so much inspiration that is shared on these blog hops and I hope that your Valentine’s Day celebration is terrific. Happy Valentine’s Day!
First of all, happy birthday to mom! Making it to 96 is quite an accomplishment, you are so lucky to still have her. Second, clever you for coming up with a Valentine’s table suitable for the guys. This looks just perfect. It’s colorful and seasonal enough to please the women, and yet not so girly as to not please the men. Everything is so lovely. I was reading how you got some things from Pier One’s brick and mortar store. I really miss that store. Honestly, I would have thought that I alone could’ve kept them in business. Well, what can you do?
Thanks for the birthday wishes for mom Pattie and yes, we are very blessed that she is still with us. The guy’s Valentine’s table was actually kind of fun to set although it did challenge my tendency towards feminine for that special day. I honestly think that you and I should have been able to keep Pier 1 in business lol – it was my favorite store. Thanks for your comments and visit and I hope that you have a fantastic Valentine’s Day!
Kim what a fun idea to put the beer cans in wine glasses…however your new beer glass replica is the perfect solution to make the guys …well, just be ‘guys.’ The roses are so feminine reminding us that we usually have ‘one’ with the ‘other’ unless it is strictly a one gender party which I am certainly not opposed to. I love your table lit up for evening viewing…(I did that too in my tablescape this year) and I always love that particular plaid as you may have noticed in years past on my table. I really miss Pier 1…they always had such unique and standby elements for a table. Beautiful table from up North. Happy Valentine’s Day and stay warm and keep the lights on! ❤️🥰❤️
Kari, I can’t claim credit for the beer can in the wine glass – that was youngest son lol. But it was definitely what I thought of when I saw those beer can glasses in HomeSense. I liked it too that the little log house lit up and I loved your table with the photos in the candlelight. So romantic. Thanks for your comments and visit and I hope that you have been able to keep your lights on as I see that Florida is under a significant cold snap! I think we might be warmer here. Stay warm, keep the candles lit, and wishing you and the Captain a wonderful Valentine’s day!
What a lovely wintery Valentine table! Perfect for guys and gals! Your centerpiece looks like NY as we have had over 105″ snow so far! Enjoy Valentine’s Day, it’s always fun to see what you come up with!
Patti, oh my gosh. I heard that NY got slammed but I had no idea it was that bad. 105 inches is a lot – even for this Calgary girl! I hope that you’ve been able to dig yourself out of all the snow. Thanks for your visit and comments and Happy Valentine’s Day to you!
What a cute idea, Kim! I love your wintry setting and the guy-inspired details–the tumblers and log cabin are perfect. Who would have known we would be in the midst of winter storm Fern as we set our tables?! Stay warm, Cecilia – My Thrift Store Addiction
Cecilia, your comment about winter storm Fern made me smile, although I am sad that you are having to endure this atypical weather. Thanks for your comments and visit, and I wish you a wonderful Valentine’s Day!
Kim, your couple friendly table is a great idea. The glass ware is fun and festive, and the snowy plate stack with the touches of tartan is obviously perfect for the current weather events. I’ve been house bound since Saturday evening. The charm of the lit centerpiece and the heart votives set the cozy stage. Happy Valentine’s Day!
Thanks so much Sarah! The guys always appreciate a table set just for them. I hope that you have recovered from all the nasty weather and are at least no longer housebound. Watching from up here, it’s some pretty crazy weather for sure – more like what we would get. Happy Valentine’s day to you too!
Good morning Kim, What a fun Valentine’s table you’ve set with the guys in mind! I love the sled you’ve used a set up your snowy scene and centerpiece with your cute cabin, trees and deer! The plaid runner, chargers, embossed snowflake plates, snowflake napkin rings and etched snowflake goblets all make your table so cozy, especially with the pops of red. I love the touch of the long-stemmed chocolate roses for the ladies you included too. As always, it’s a treat to join you at the table and hop with you. We’re thawing out this morning after a round of ice over the weekend. I know you’re no stranger to snow and hope you’re staying warm & cozy. ❄️❤️
Thanks so much Mary! My guys are pretty tolerant of previous pink tables and the like, but it always nice to set a more masculine table for them once in awhile. I’m glad that you are thawing out down there although I heard that you have had another snow/bomb cyclone event this weekend. I hope it didn’t cause too much damage to the trees and everything. Yikes. Say warm and cozy there too. It’s a pleasure to join you at the table as well and Happy Valentine’s Day!
