Good morning dear friends and sweet readers! I hope that everyone south of the border had a wonderful Thanksgiving and that everyone is ready to dive headlong into Christmas! Today, I am joining 17 other very talented ladies in a Christmas tablescape blog hop hosted by our lovely leader, Rita, from Panoply. Thank you Rita! The links to the other stylists’ tables can be found at the end of this post.

Here in Calgary, it seems that we always get a good dump of snow followed by a cold snap towards the end of November, and this year Mother Nature did not, um, disappoint. It’s always a bit of a wake-up call, especially after a mild fall, reminding us what is in store for the next 3 to 4 months. I’m not sure what the final snow tally was last Monday, but judging from the fence railing, it appear to be about 5 inches. We’ve definitely had worse accumulations, but it was sooo cold this year. By Friday, the overnight low had dropped to -20 degrees C; I wasn’t paying attention to the overnight temps, didn’t plug my car in, and of course it didn’t start the next morning. Hello winter, I guess, if we must.

Oddly enough, the inspiration for this table came from that very snow outside. Accordingly, a blanket of fur “snow” adorns the center of the table, providing a forest floor for Christmas trees and reindeer. A mint-colored, glass Christmas tree encircled by reindeer takes center stage.

It is flanked on each side by a gold mercury glass candle holder and two more Christmas trees.

With the exception of the mint-colored tree, the other trees are part of a collection that I’ve had for years that I use on the mantel as part of my Christmas village. I’ve seconded them for the table…

The place settings started with Pier 1’s Modern Reindeer appetizer plates and coordinating wine glasses in gold, white, and mint (with a little black thrown in). I purchased these many years ago when I used to have colleagues over after work for some wine and appetizers to celebrate the Christmas season. That seems like such a long time ago now.

There were two other reindeer plates in the set.

The appetizer plates sit on simple white and gold-rimmed salad plates. Dinner plates are a gold-wreathed winter fauna and flora set on shimmering gold charger plates. The dinner plates were a Superstore purchase several to many years ago – one of those “ohmygosh, these are so cute and they’re only a couple of dollars” items. They’ve turned out to be quite versatile being featured in a winter tablescape, two Valentines Day tablescapes (here and here), and now a Christmas tablescape. I forgot to take a close-up of the dinner plates, but here is one from a previous Valentine’s Day tablescape showing the reindeer, squirrels, birds, and bunnies.

Napkins are white with thin metallic gold stripes, encased by a gold leaping reindeer napkin ring.

We have a tradition of after-dinner liqueurs on Christmas Day at our house. I was delighted to have found my crystal liqueur glasses in my garage unpacking this fall. It’s hard to believe that this Waterford crystal set of liqueur glasses from my wedding registry is almost five decades old.

Also located in the garage was my collection of salt and pepper shakers; I used the white reindeer shakers on one side of the table…

and some snow-covered Christmas trees on the other side of the table.

Here is a full view of the table. I know some readers might be curious as to where to put the food on the table. We actually always serve buffet-style from the island. If we were to dine at this table, the trees would go back on the mantle and I would simply exchange the mercury gold candle holders and candles for my low antler candelabra to add ambience.

Resources:
Appetizer plates and wine glasses: Pier 1 many years ago.
Charger plates: Walmart several years ago.
Dinner plates: Superstore several to many years ago.
Napkin rings: Temu, I think, several years ago.
Gold reindeer: Bouclair, this year.
Pretty much everything else: HomeSense over the years.

Your gold, white and mint Christmas table is absolutely lovely! The soft metallic mint paired with shimmering gold and crisp white feels so fresh and elegant. I love how the colours come together to feel festive but still light and airy, perfect for a cozy winter gathering. What a beautiful way to bring a little sparkle and charm to the season. While we are much further south (and east) than you, snow started early this year for us after a warm autumn. We are set to get back to back to back Alberta Clippers over the next few days! The temps have been frigid and looks like they are going to remain that way for a while! This is the first year in a while I am confident in a White Christmas! Wishing you a happy holiday season 🙂
Kim, I love your reindeer table inspired by the striking appetizer plates and how it relates to the snowy view you have! (I’m jealous, it’s been another rainy day. . .) All the gold items — the chargers, plates, napkin rings, reindeer, candle holders — glitter against the “snow” and feel quite festive. I also love your collection of unique Christmas trees. What a treat is in store for your guests! Happy Holidays
Kim, Your table is beautiful!! I love the snowy scene you have created for the centerpiece. You have a fabulous tree collection!! Christmas trees are one of my weaknesses, no matter the shape or texture, so all your different trees on both the table and mantel appeal to me. I was so sad to hear that your plates are from Pier 1 because I adore them!! Love the color palette. Your plate stack is fabulous, the white and gold plates were a great purchase – I had to go back and see where you had used them before – very nice!! I live in Ohio and that is down right tropical compared to your temps!! ❄️❆❄️Stay warm!! Wishing you a very blessed and merry Christmas and a happy and healthy new year.❤️🎄
Kim, this is gorgeous! And seeing the snow vicariously through your post is perfectly fine with me! We seem to be lucking out with mere dustings, just either south or east of the few snow lines of recent events here. But your tablescape and outdoor scenery is winter bliss. The unexpected pop of mint green among your tree collection is fabulous, and goes so well with this tablescape. Those dinner plates are just adorable, and obviously so versatile. I popped over to the rustic post with the lower candelabra and it’s just as handsome as this presentation is. We almost always serve from our buffet also. The s/p are whimsical, both pairs coordinating with your deer motif and trees. The Pier 1 {sigh} plates are very classy looking. It’s nice to see you being able to find long lost friends from your move with things like the crystal. I still seem to go on scavenger hunts to my storage unit to find things that haven’t been used for a while. It sure makes mixing and matching elements fun, doesn’t it?
Kim, thanks so much for participating in this blog hop with your classy style and presentation. Merry December!
Kim, your table is a delight for the eyes. Love the addition of the mint green reindeer plates and matching glassware. Adding the mint Christmas tree is so lovely with the gold and white. A lovely plate stack as well with those darling plates with gold deer, squirrels, birds & bunnies.. The parade of trees is so pretty with the reindeer. Those mercury glass candle holders are gorgeous. Love the snowy table runner. Wow, it sounds so cold where you live. Bundle up. Wishing you a very Merry Christmas.🎄
Wow – snow already! Haha! Glad you weren’t – um- disappointed! You crack me up! But you made great use of your inspiration. I LOVE those little reindeer appetizer plates! The color is understated yet festive, and they look perfect with your gold plate stack. Really pretty! All your pieces are lovely – you have a good eye for décor – I’d love to find some like the gold reindeer. Thanks for the laugh and the inspiration this morning! I’m going to give those soft wintery colors a try! Merry Christmas my friend!
Kim, if ever there was a beautiful combination of colors, it is the gold, silver and mint. It is so elegant and soft. It makes Christmas preparation more of a calm event. The playful mint reindeer plates add that touch of holiday whimsy with the classic and stunning silver and gold reindeer plates. The “snow runner” and tree and reindeer centerpiece brings it all together and works beautifully with the reindeer dinner plates and napkin rings. I love the contrast of the mercury glass candleholders next to the twig trees. It truly is a beautiful alternative tablescape to the traditional red and green. Peaceful and serene and what we all hope our holiday will be. Have a wonderful holiday.
Kim, your snowy table delights with each detail. The Pier I reindeer plates are some of the cutest I’ve seen. I miss not having a Pier I! Your forest of trees creates the perfect centerpiece, and looks extra special with the sunlight. I especially like the natural wood tree. The teal with the gold is very striking! Merry, Merry!
I was very excited to see your tablescape after I read the title, and I was not disappointed. I love the touches of mint green with the gold and white! Your plates are so cute, and they tie everything together so well. Your tree collection is so pretty, and I really love that I got to see your pretty mantel, too. Merry Christmas!
Kim, your table is absolutely beautiful. It is both elegant and magical. The fur table runner creates a lovely foundation for your centerpiece. The deer are so striking, and the mint glass tree is beautiful. The plate stack is pretty with the sweet Christmas tree plates on top. Your mantel is gorgeous decorated for the season. May you have a blessed Christmas season!
Kim, just reading the beginning of your post and now I am cold. I can’t imagine that much cold, I would probably never venture outside. I love the snowy (fur) table runner, it is perfect and certainly gives warmth to the table. The modern reindeer appetizer plates are so unique, I love the color and I am sure you are happy to have the matching wine glasses. Your tree complements the appetizer plates. I love the gold reindeer, they look fabulous with the gold border of the dinner plate and the gold reindeer napkin rings! The overhead shot is stunning! I always enjoy your tables, my friend. Wishing you a joyous Christmas season!
Kim your table is so refreshing with your beautiful colors….and your snowy background (out of your windows) makes this Florida gal shiver but admire from afar. Bringing the “snow” inside to your table is inspirational as well as beautiful. I love your addition of gold reindeer and all your various trees which is a statement in itself. We do miss Pier 1 don’t we? They always had such a variety of salad plates and I don’t believe I have ever seen yours. Just lovely. It is always a pleasure to blog hop with you and hear the “news” from our neighbors from North of the border. Merry Christmas and many Blessings to you and yours. 🎄🎄🍽️🎄🎄
Kim, it may be very cold there, but your elegant table is warm and inviting! I love the color palette, pretty plate stacks, and lovely deer. Wishing a joyful holiday season, Cecilia – My Thrift Store Addiction
I am going crazy over all of the beautiful reindeer I have seen in this tablescape blog hop this morning. Those appetizer plates are so lovely, the colors of everything here are so soft. I love mint and cream in the winter time. It just seems so frosty and fun. I also like your napkin rings and stemware with the reindeer on them. I feel a deer or elk tablescape coming at some point during the winter. Thanks for the inspiration.
I have been to Calgary in the winter and it is really cold and snowy. I hope you stay warm and toasty inside enjoying your lovely mantle and tablescape. The softer green tones in that lovely aquamarine color are so peaceful and serene. Finding a gorgeous glass tree to match the color in the appetizer plates was super and it makes such a lovely contribution to the look of the table. Love the dinner plates with their gold reindeer rims. The playful reindeer on the runner of fluffy snow go beautifully with the selection of trees. The gold and silver ones are unique and love the twig tree accent. Wishing you and your family a lovely holiday season.
Lynne, Thrifting Wonderland
I adore the colors on your table. The appetizer plates are so pretty and i like how the glasses, napkin rings and gold plates all tie in the deer theme! As for the SNOW – we had 8″ over the weekend and today we are getting another 4-8″. UGHH….I myself like a little dusting – quite like your table covering!! Have a wonderful holiday month!
Oh my gosh Patti, I am so sorry for all your snow. I hear you, believe me lol. There’s almost never a “dusting” here, sort of like when it rains, it pours. Thanks so much for your comments and by the time I post this reply, I hope that your snow has disappeared! Wishing you a warm and wonderful holiday season!!
Good morning Kim, Brrrrrr…you are cold there! ❄️ I knew with the negative in the temperature it was cold, but I had to google the Celsius to Fahrenheit equivalent for perspective. I can’t imagine having to plug your car in for it to start. Your snowy tablerunner is so appropriate and such a fun tactile layer of warmth and texture with the fur! I love your ‘Modern Reindeer’ appetizer plates and matching glasses…adorable! I don’t remember seeing them at Pier1, I so miss their wonderful selection of tableware and décor. Your forest of trees and deer are perfect for table and I love the pop of color your center mint tree to pair with your plates. I remember your wonderful gold-wreathed winter fauna and flora plates with the cute woodland animals on the border. As always, it’s a treat to hop with you and join you at the table. Wishing you a Merry December, stay warm! 🦌🎄❤️
Mary, -20 is cold, no doubt, but most cars will start at that temp without being plugged in – except mine. She is getting on in age, and like her mother (me), she doesn’t much like the cold lol! I’m so glad you liked the table. Once I brought out the fur runner, it seemed to come together relatively easily. Thanks so much for your comments, and it’s always a treat to hop with you as well. Merry December to you too and I’ve heard of some cool weather down your way so I hope you stay warm too!
What a beautiful table, Kim! I’m loving the pop of teal….so pretty! You certainly have a knack for setting beautiful tables capes! Brrr…… -20 – that is just too darn cold! We don’t usually see those kind of cold temps until February…..something to “look forward to”…..I guess.
Have an awesome week my friend!! (and stay warm).
Charlotte, I know, these temps are more like January/February and thankfully, they didn’t last all that long! But my poor car didn’t at all appreciate it (neither did I, to be honest!). I know there have been a couple of Nor’easters your way so I hope you are staying warm too! Thanks so much for your visit and comments and I hope you have an awesome week as well!
