Good morning!
I hope everyone is having a wonderful fall – here in Calgary, October is usually a “scramble” month as we rush to finish outdoor projects and clean the yard in preparation for the inevitable snow. However, we had a very mild October this year and I’m always grateful for that, especially if the kids are able to trick or treat on Halloween without having to wear snowsuits, boots, hats, and mitts lol. I have only a few small chores left to do in the yard and I’ll get them done this week as the weather continues to hold. Then I’ll be done for the season. Yay.
Moving on into November, today, I’m joining 13 other very talented ladies as we share our inspiration tables for Thanksgiving. Canadian Thanksgiving was several weeks ago here, but I am always honored and delighted to celebrate U.S. Thanksgiving with my blog friends south of the border. It should never be just one day anyway. This Thanksgiving blog hop is hosted by our wonderful leader, Rita, from Panoply. Thank you Rita! The links to the other stylists’ tables can be found at the end of this post.

The inspiration for this tablescape started with a doughbowl and some turkey salad plates. The doughbowl was a purchase this past spring after literally years of looking for one that was the right size for my table. It seemed that everything I had looked at previously was either too long, too short, too high, or not wide enough. Or too expensive. But then I found this pretty one on Wayfair and it was a perfect fit. I would have loved a vintage one, but this one has wonderful knot holes, irregularly carved sides, and is not symmetrical. I couldn’t have asked for anything more. The vintage look will come with time…

The second item was the turkey salad plates. I loved the autumn colors of browns, oranges, and golds, and at 60% off, I couldn’t resist buying them even though I broke an 18+ month streak of no new (or new to me) dishware in doing so. Yep, fell off the wagon, I did.

The vision I had for this table was one of warmth and coziness as we head into our winter months with shorter daylight hours and colder temps. I wanted to bring the colors of the salad plates into the doughbowl centerpiece and add warm metallics of copper, bronze, and amber to the place settings. I started with the place settings, with the turkey plates atop rustic off-white dinner plates on warm copper chargers.

Orange, gold, and brown spray napkin rings encase lace-edged lineny beige napkins, the latter to complement the dinner plates and table runner.

Bronze twig flatware adds a second warm element to the place settings.

Amber stemware is a third warm element; I only have four of the plain amber wine glasses so two amber crackled wine glasses were placed on each end. I often bring out the clear crackle, stemless champagne glasses for a little sparkle.

I set the doughbowl on a neutral beige table runner and added two off-white velvet pumpkins in the center. The pumpkins were never intended to be the focal point and were just a way to bring a touch of neutral to the centerpiece. Autumn leaves in muted oranges and golds were added next, followed by light brown and bronze flowers with darker bronze centers. The flowers are really napkin rings and regular readers know that I have no hesitation in using napkin rings as flowers in a centerpiece; hey, if it works, why not? A gourd, a couple of copper acorns, and some copper leaf fairy lights completed the doughbowl, with everything coming from my stash.

At each end of the doughbowl, I added two tiny taper candles in glass turkey candle holders.

And the center of the table was done.

A turkey’s eye view 🦃…

A very cozy table indeed Kim! The copper charges are gorgeous, and I love the turkey plates. They have all those beautiful colours of fall, and I think they have a vintage look to them! The napkin ring is very eye catching and works perfectly with the plates. Your dough bowl is a great find, and you have styled it beautifully with the fall leaves, velvet pumpkins and little twinkle lights! We have had our earliest snow in years here in Southern Ontario, that started falling yesterday and continues today. Browsing these warm and cozy tables makes this icy cold bearable!
Maureen, thanks for your lovely comments! Warm and cozy was the theme I was hoping for even though we have had an incredibly mild fall so far. I’m so sorry about all the snow and cold over there – my SIL lives in Etobicoke so we heard about it from her, and of course, it’s all over the news. I guess it’s a good thing tomorrow is Remembrance Day and hopefully there will be less people on the roads (and sliding into ditches). I hope your snow melts quickly and you stay warm and cozy in the meantime!
Kim, how wonderful to celebrate Thanksgiving twice! And it’s wonderful to be able to use this charming table setting on more than one occasion. The warm colors are enticing and each element brings out a different aspect of the concept of warmth. The depth of the wood, its texture and that of the pumpkins, the glow of copper and bronze, all offset by the sparkle of the lovely glassware. I adore the way the fairy lights peek through the flowers and acorns in the dough bowl in the pre-dawn light. I love that you used flower napkin rings that way! Have a fabulous November!
Sandra, I agree that it’s wonderful to celebrate Thanksgiving twice so I am delighted to participate in your celebration too! Warmth is the word from here on in until spring, although the weather has really not been bad here at all so far (for which I’m very thankful). My faux flower collection has grown over the years and so I am very happy if I can use what I already have, even if not intended as their original purpose lol. Thanks so much for your lovely comments and it was a pleasure hopping with you. I hope you and your family have a fantastic Thanksgiving and a wonderful November!
Kim, thanks for celebrating both Thanksgivings with us!!! Your copper accents make for a beautiful table and the perfect compliment to your handsome turkey plates! I love how you lit up your centerpiece, I bet that gives a lovely glow on these short and dark days. It is a pleasure hopping with you. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving 🧡🦃
Ann, it was my pleasure to join you ladies in celebrating your Thanksgiving! I usually don’t get to set a Canadian Thanksgiving table for the blog, so I am always delighted to partake in yours. Thanks so much for your sweet comments and I’m wishing you and your family a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Oh boy! As I’m scrolling, the first thing I see is copper chargers!! As you know, I love copper unreasonably, and my heart starts doing a little gentlejumping up and down to see what’s next! And haha!! Falling off the wagon is totally worth it for those darling turkey plates – especially when they’re in that lovely plate stack! BEAUTIFUL with the white and copper, lacy napkins, and cute twig flatware! Your centerpiece is beautiful too, and yes – go for the flowers any way you can! Love those darling and elegant turkey candle holders! The whole table is just lovely Kim! You certainly have a way! It looks as wonderful in candlelight and it does with the sun slanting in over it. Both just beautiful looks, my friend!! (Don’t make me say Beautiful again!) Always so fun to share one of Rita’s hops with you and the kitty! Take care till next time!
Oh my gosh, Barbara – you are so funny!! And of course I won’t make you say “beautiful” again lol. I really like copper too, and it’s always so much fun to create a table with them. These a special to me as they were a gift many years ago from middle son and DIL. Thanks so much for your lovely comments and it is always great to join you in these hops as well. Take care yourself, my friend, and happy Thanksgiving to you!
Kim, I finally got in by changing to Google Chrome. Interesting! Has never happened to me.
Your table is charming. Beautiful turkey plates, gorgeous copper chargers, and the twig flatware one of my favorites. I regret not buying a set when I had the opportunity. I think it was World Market. Your centerpiece is perfect. Love using low wooden dough bowls in the center of my table. Every detail is perfect.
Happy Thanksgiving! Grateful for your friendship through blogging.
Sarah, I’m so glad that you were able to comment – many thanks for them and for your perseverance (hasn’t happened to me either). I also regret not buying the twig flatware in silver from Pier 1 when I had the chance but I didn’t know that World Market carried them too (we sadly don’t have one here). I was pretty happy to have found the dough bowl and I’m looking forward to styling it for other tables in the future. Grateful too for your friendship through blogging and I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
“Hello, my name is Kim Goddard, and I’m a dishaholic” is the first thing I thought of when I read your line about falling off the wagon. The only thing I have going for me is I can rotate in my booths, but have done very little of it, in the overall scheme of stash.
Having that said, Kim, you did a great job of pulling from your stash to build around the handsome find in the discounted salad plates. I really like how you arranged the doughbowl (great find!), especially using the napkin rings as florals. I have done that just once or twice, and it’s a great idea. The copper and bronze look nice and rich against the clean neutrals you’ve used, and the tiny candles are a nice, understated addition.
Thank you for your Thanksgiving reprise and joining this blog hop after celebrating your own. You are appreciated!
Oh my gosh Rita I laughed and laughed when I saw this comment. Truer words were never spoken lol. I’ve always thought that having your booth was such a savior but I guess not so much from what you are saying. I know I’m going to have to cull some of my dishes at some point, but in the meantime, I’m hoping I can start a fresh round of 18+ months. Thank you for you lovely comments, and as always, for your efforts in hosting these fun blog hops. You are appreciated too! I know Thanksgiving will be different for you this year and I also believe what you said: “Every day is a gift”.
Good morning Kim, What a beautiful table…you certainly achieved your vision for warmth and coziness! I’m glad you ‘fell off the wagon’ 😊with those turkey plates, I didn’t see those at Michaels, they’re beauties! After your Goldilocks search, you found the perfect dough bowl for your table. It looks so handsome and vintage with its irregularities. I love the fall elements you’ve tucked inside, included your napkin rings, pumpkins and copper acorns. Love the additional copper accents from your twig flatware and chargers too. Good luck with your chores in preparation for Old Man Winter’s arrival. Snow is such a rare event here that I actually keep my fingers crossed that we might see some this year. As always, it’s a treat to join you at the table and hop with you, Happy November! 🦃🍂🧡
Oh Mary, thanks for your sweet comments. I feel really lucky to have found the dough bowl and I look forward to decorating it for future tables. The turkey salad were a fun find and I was really glad to have them join my small collection of turkey plates. We’ve had but one snow this season so far in early October and it didn’t last long. The weather has been decent here and it looks like it will hold for another week so I can finish the outside work. It was a pleasure joining you at the table too and wishing you a most wonderful Thanksgiving and a very happy November!!
Kim thank you for celebrating “our” Thanksgiving with us….we are on the same page which is delightful. Your Autumnal table exudes warmth and is so cozy. I also have the twig flatware in both copper and silver and I miss Pier 1. I adore your dough bowl and you have filled it beautifully, great job on a lovely table. It is always fun to table hop with you.
Oh, Kari, how wonderful to have that flatware in both the bronze and the silver. I love the silver too and have looked for it many times online without success. The dough bowl was a great find after a long hunt lol. Thanks for visiting and your lovely comments. I hope you and your family have a very wonderful Thanksgiving!
Kim, the dough bowl is perfect as a centerpiece. I am sure you will use it often. You styled it beautifully with the velvet pumpkins, autumn colored leaves, copper acorns, and copper leaf fairy lights! I love the copper twig flatware. I have it in the silver color. The turkey plates are lovely and they are new to me. I must visit Michaels more often. The pre-sunrise photos of your table are stunning! Potpurri is adorable!
I always enjoy a seat at one of your tables my friend!
Pam, I was so excited when I found that dough bowl that was just the right size! I love the twig flatware too, and I kick myself for not buying it in the silver when I had the chance. But who knew? I’ve looked online many a time for it with no luck sadly. Thanks for your lovely comments and I hope you and your family have a very blessed and beautiful Thanksgiving, my friend!
This might be my favorite table so far! Love the copper chargers for fall and the flatware is perfect! Warm, welcoming and festive! Happy Thanksgiving!
Oh thanks Patti – what a lovely compliment. Copper chargers and bronze flatware are definitely favorites here, especially in the fall and at Thanksgiving. I’m so glad you enjoyed the table. Happy Thanksgiving to you too!
I really like the dough bowl centerpiece with the fairy lights, it is quite lovely. And your copper adds a warm glow to your table.
Thanks so much Karen for your lovely comments. Wishing you are warm glow on Thanksgiving day too!
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday, so I always enjoy seeing what other people do, and tend to come away with new ideas that get me all excited for the holiday all over again. I have a lot of different turkey plates, but I don’t have these. In fact today, in looking at a lot of Thanksgiving tablescapes, I have been taking notes for next year. I don’t know how that flatware escaped me at Pier One — I still miss them. I used to haunt that place so much that they knew my name. So much for keeping a low profile. Beautiful table.
Thanks so much Pattie – I hope you found lots of inspiration from all the lovely tables. I was also a Pier 1 “haunter” and they knew my name too lol. In fact, one time the manager asked if I wanted to come and work there – ha, I’d be working for free. I don’t have a whole lot of turkey plates so I was really happy to add them to my collection. Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Kim, your table is lovely with your dough bowl filled with pumpkin, leaves and copper acorns. The 🦃 turkey plates are a great addition. Love your comment about falling off the wagon. Your twig flatware is lovely. The warm cozy feeling you have created is so perfect for Thanksgiving. The candlelight is so inviting. Always a pleasure joining you. Happy Thanksgiving.🍂🦃🍂
Thanks so much Linda – its always a joy to join you and the other ladies for these fabulous blog hops! Glad you liked the table and I’m wishing you a very happy Thanksgiving as well!
Kim, you have set a warm Thanksgiving table, indeed! I am smitten with your copper chargers and beautiful centerpiece. I hope you have a blessed Thanksgiving, Cecilia – My Thrift Store Addiction
Cecilia, thanks so much for your visit and sweet comments. Glad you like the table. I hope you have a blessed and wonderful Thanksgiving too!
What a lovely table, Kim! I luv, luv, luv the turkey plates and silverware! Awesome find on the dough bowl….they can be tricky to fine….you scored an awesome one on Wayfair!!
PS – an adorable little turkey on the floor too!!
Have a beautiful week, my friend!!
Thanks so much Charlotte. I just happen to agree about that adorable turkey on the floor, but no bias here lol. Wishing you a beautiful week as well, my friend!!
