Home and garden, tablescaping, organization, DIY

Good morning!

I hope everyone is well out there.  Today I am joining 16 other bloggers for a Thanksgiving blog hop hosted by the wonderful Rita at Panoply.  Thank you Rita for all your organizing efforts and every thing you do – you are much appreciated!  Please see the end of the post for all the other bloggers’ links.  You are sure to find some amazing inspiration.

We celebrated Canadian Thanksgiving not quite a month ago.  It always happens at a particularly busy time of the year, following quickly on the heels of fall with all the yard work that needs to be done before the first snowfall (yes, we’ve already had our first dump in October), and usually right smack dab in the middle of a Halloween tablescape.  It’s been several years since I’ve been able to set a Thanksgiving table for the blog, so I am delighted to be celebrating U.S. Thanksgiving with my blogging friends.  I think the message of giving thanks is the same no matter where you are or what day you celebrate this wonderful holiday!

Every year our HomeSense brings in a line or two of Royal Stafford fall/Thanksgiving plates.  There are various animals depicted on the plates and they often change the borders and/or the hue of the colors.  I fell in love with their turkey plates last year and they were such a great price.  I loved the brown shades with the pink apples and pale yellow and green leaves and acorns.  I don’t have a lot of transferware and I wanted to add these to my collection.  I see they had them back in the store this year too so I suspect that others may have these plates too.😀

I don’t remember if they had the salad plates to match, and even though they would have been lovely, I was okay with just the dinner plates.  Easier on storage too, lol.  I set the dinner plates on a pink cabbage plate from Turkey.  I think this is Turkey’s answer to Portugal’s Bordallo Pinheiro cabbage plates…

I paired the plates and chargers with some ivory flatware that accents the white/ivory rim around the center and the border of the plate.

I think I purchased the beaded table topper around the same time as the plates.  The green, pink, cranberry, orange, and beige colors were a good match.  That doesn’t happen very often – at least in my world.

I googled apple napkin rings and these vintage apple napkin rings popped up on Etsy.  What a wonderful fluke.   The plaid napkins had burgundy, beige, green, and white/ivory in them and were from Amazon.

Stemware was my Bohemian crystal goblets and cranberry/burgundy wine glasses, the latter which I bought for a previous cranberry Christmas table but ended up not using them.  You can see that table here but I’m so glad that they worked with this table.

Mr. Turkey is the star of the centerpiece.  He is surrounded by ivory velvet pumpkins, baby boos, and mini apples.  The baby boo in the bottom right-hand corner is one that I painted with simple craft paint just to experiment.  It was so easy and it tells me that I can paint baby boos any color I want.  Perfect!

Some leaf candles in whitewashed/distressed candle holders complete the centerpiece.  We have just this past weekend gone from daylight savings time to regular time and oh my gosh, it gets dark early now!  It’s candle time from here on in until next spring.

A few pictures with the candles lit…

Wishing everyone a happy and blessed Thanksgiving.  Please be sure to check out my fellow-bloggers’ tables on the links below.  You will not be disappointed!

  1. Kim I love that your picked up on the pinks in the plates and carried it throughout your tablescape. So pretty! Your turkey centrepiece makes quite an impression! What a fun find on etsy. I could see those napkin rings getting a lot of use. As a fellow Canadian I am always happy that we have some breathing room between our Thanksgiving and the Christmas season!

    1. Thanks Maureen – the pinks just seemed like the right direction to go and I was floored when I happened across the napkin rings. I too am glad for the breathing space between our Thanksgiving and Christmas but it’s a wonderful holiday to celebrate anytime. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you had a fantastic Thanksgiving!

    1. Thanks so much for your kind comments Ann! It was a pleasure and a privilege to join you and all the other lovely ladies to celebrate this wonderful holiday. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!

  2. Kim, the colors you chose for your table are perfect autumn hues that often get lost in the midst of the orange pumpkins. Each color complements the others without being overwhelming. I loved that you chose the apples on the plates to highlight accent colors. I love to collect table linens but I don’t have any beaded runners. This one is absolutely gorgeous! And I love its repeated design of leaves. The napkins are lovely too. It’s delightful to hop with you!

    1. Sandra, thank you so much for your lovely comments. I love the traditional colors of fall too, but when I saw these plates with the pink apples and then found those vintage apple napkin rings, it kind of sealed the deal. The beaded table topper was from HomeSense and was a lucky find since they don’t always have them. I’m so glad that you liked the table and it was delightful to hop with you as well. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

  3. Kim your table is so lovely! What wonderful plates – I love the pink apples, and of course the turkeys are darling! I laughed about you trying to do Thanksgiving in the middle of Halloween! I had a very clear vision of you substituting a turkey for a jack o lantern on an orange table! 🤣 Thanks for the beautiful inspiration! I hope your Thanksgiving was wonderful, my friend.

    1. Ohmygosh Barbara – I had such a good laugh over your comments about Thanksgiving and Halloween because that is exactly how it happened here! I hadn’t dismantled the Halloween table yet so it was still set the day we had Thanksgiving dinner. There are usually 9 of us so I end up setting two tables, and I set a pumpkin one in the kitchen and had the Halloween one in the dining room. But all the DILs and my mom wanted to sit at the Halloween table. It was so funny! Thank you for your lovely comments and Thanksgiving wishes my friend, and I hope your Thanksgiving is every bit as special as you dream it to be!

  4. Kim, I’m so happy you’re able to be a part of this American Thanksgiving and enjoy setting your table without the rush of activity of your own traditional Canadian Thanksgiving’s timing among all those things you named. I totally get how busy that Sept-Oct period can be. The serendipity of all your elements coming together for this beautiful colorway of a tablescape turned out so beautiful! From the beaded centerpiece to the Turkish Bordallo-Pinheiro look-alikes as underpinnings, to the beautiful new border of the HomeSense turkey plates, you picked out all the subtle colors and patterns in your cranberry stems and napkin rings, as well as the plaid napkins. I truly love this. It is unexpected yet still traditional, and so inspiring. Thank you so much for adding your talent to the mix of stylists in this hop today. You are appreciated!

    1. Rita, thank you so much! I am so proud and delighted to be a part of this wonderful group of stylists and you are an amazing leader. Your comments are always so inspiring and I find myself striving to be a better tablescaper and I thank you for that too because that is a talent too in addition to your organizational skills and your keen eye for beautiful pieces and place settings. Oh, and don’t forget about that green thumb too. It is a pleasure to be in your company and I wish you and your family the most beautiful and blessed Thanksgiving!

  5. Kim, I so agree with “the message of giving thanks is the same no matter where you are”! Your table is lovely and beaded table runner pairs beautifully paired with your Royal Stafford turkey plates, along with your plaid napkins, apple napkin rings and cranberry goblets. I have four of the same plates, great minds shop alike 😊 As always, it’s a treat to have a virtual seat at your table and hop with you! Wishing you a wonderful November and season of Thanksgiving. 🦃 🧡

    1. Mary, you are so right when you say it should be a season of Thanksgiving – one day doesn’t seem enough! And yes, I was pretty sure that some others would have those plates as well especially when they came in two years in a row, at least in our HomeSense here. But it is also interesting to see how others style the same plates so I’ll look forward to that. Thank you for your lovely comments and visit and I’m wishing you a wonderful November and season of Thanksgiving as well!

  6. Your turkey plates are so pretty on your Thanksgiving table. The turkey with pumpkins and apples makes such a beautiful centerpiece set on the pretty table runner. It is always a joy to join you on these hops.

    1. Shannon, thank you for your comments and it is a joy to join you and all the other ladies on these wonderful hops. I don’t have a lot of transferware so this was my first experience with it so I am really glad you liked the table. I learn a lot from everyone else on these hops and I am grateful for that.
Take care down there and I wish you and yours the most wonderful Thanksgiving!

  7. Kim, first I want to say thank you for celebrating our Thanksgiving so late after yours. We are the winners here, 🤗
and your table is lovely. The soft hues of your napkins and napkin rings are relaxing. The stemware is perfect and a great reflection of your beaded table runner. After all these years, I have finally had to put a stop to complete sets of dinnerware and use the colorful salads that I can not resist. My storage has expanded tremendously but I can’t part with a single piece….no matter how that storage has spilled over and into other rooms of my home. As far as painting the little boos….I spray paint everything. Some of my pieces have been painted over so many times that I have forgotten the original color. So grab that paint brush and do your thing. Have a wonderful Fall Season as we start to prepare for our next Holiday. Blessings to you and yours.

    1. Kari – thank you so much and it is an honor to celebrate your Thanksgiving with you! I smiled at your comment on your dinnerware as it exactly describes my storage woes too and yes, I wouldn’t part with any of my dishes either. I’m so glad that I discovered how nice the baby boos took the simple craft paint because now I know I can paint them whatever color I want (and then just dispose of them when they start to go bad). Thanks for stopping by and I hope you and the Captain have a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving!

  8. Kim, I am intrigued with your lovely combination of colors for your Fall/Thanksgiving tablescape. Your Royal Stafford dinner plates are certainly eye-catching and you paired them beautifully with the charger and the beaded runner. I think your plaid napkins with your vintage apple ring complements the colors in the dinner plate and really enhances the entire table. Candles and pumpkins and, of course, your turkey centerpiece really brings it all together. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.

    1. Marsha, you are so sweet! Thank you for your lovely comments and compliments. And I really loved your transitioning table too – such great ideas! I love joining you ladies for these hops and seeing what everyone else has done – there is truly a lot of inspiration in this group. Thanks for the Thanksgiving wishes and wishing you a glorious Thanksgiving as well!

  9. Kim, I Love your beaded table runner. It looks so pretty with your cabbage salad plates and your Royal Stafford turkey plates. Great find on the apple napkin rings. I just love Etsy. Beautiful Bohemian crystal goblets and cranberry/burgundy wine stemware to compliment your table. A pleasure hopping along with you.

    1. Linda, thanks for your comments and for stopping by. It is so much fun to hop with you and the other ladies and see all the different tables. There is so much inspiration out there and your tables are always magnificent. I’m wishing you a happy and blessed Thanksgiving down there! Take care.

  10. So beautiful Kim! I love your turkey plates and the color palette that inspired you! The soft pinks are so pretty with the cranberry hues. What a wonderful find with the napkin rings, they are perfect! Your stemware is beautiful and the beaded runner is stunning! I hope you had a lovely Canadian Thanksgiving, and that you are enjoying ours too! The proud turkey surrounded with baby boos is a lovely centerpiece and the candles with the leaves are perfect! We’re in the 80s this week and it’s so weird with the time change and the darkness at 5 pm! So fun to be hopping with you, your tables are always just beautiful!

    1. Jenna, you are always so generous with your compliments – thank you so much! It is a pleasure to be in your company and celebrating your wonderful holiday with you. I am finding the time change weird this year too in that I don’t remember it being so dark. It’s not even 6:00 pm here yet and it’s already pitch dark. I am glad to hear that you are enjoying some lovely weather and I wish you a very happy and blessed Thanksgiving to you and your family!

  11. Your table is so pretty. The first thing that caught my eye: the adorable apple napkin rings. What a lucky Etsy find! I love how they match your napkins and plates. Your beaded table runner and your vignette on top is so pretty. I love your table! Happy (belated) Thanksgiving to you!

    1. Hi Ricki Jill. Yes, those napkin rings were definitely a lucky find and I don’t think that there was anyone more surprised than myself! Thanks for your comments and for the belated Thanksgiving wishes. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving celebration where you are!

  12. Good morning, Kim. The Royal Stafford turkey dinner plates are beautiful topping Turkey’s version of cabbage plates. I often just buy salad plates for storage reasons. The ivory flatware pairs wonderfully with the plaid napkins and the plate border. Oh how I love a beaded table runner. It is amazing how the colors blend so perfectly with the turkey plates. The soft colored napkin rings are adorable. The cranberry wine glasses coordinate so beautifully with your color scheme. Candlelight provides a delightful ambiance to your table. I am so glad you are celebrating U.S. Thanksgiving with us. Wishing you a blessed season, dear one!

    1. Pam, I totally agree that salad plates are much easier on storage and that’s often what I buy too. But sometimes the dinner plates have such a nice border that you want to try and pair them with salad plates that you already have. Or at least that was my thought at the time. I am both delighted and honored to celebrate U.S. Thanksgiving with you and all these lovely ladies. I very much hope that your weather is nice enough for you to enjoy your dinner at your beautiful outside table and wishing you a blessed Thanksgiving too, lovely lady!

  13. Your table runner is beautiful and really stands out in your charming tablescape. It is a blessing to pull up a chair to your table! Blessings, Cecilia @ My Thrift Store Addiction

    1. Cecilia, thank you for your lovely comments. The table runner had so many different colors in it that I just couldn’t resist. I hope that I can use it on other tables as well. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

  14. I love your classic take on this Thanksgiving table! Your charger plates and runner are gorgeous! Your Tom turkey is amazing! So fun to blog hop with you today! Hugs, Karin

    1. Hi Karin. Glad you liked the table, and the runner and charger plates were definitely lucky finds. It was great hopping with you as well and thank you so much for your comments and stopping by!

    1. Thanks so much Carole. Yes, I agree that the colors are not typical and I did feel really lucky to find all the different elements – especially the vintage napkin rings. Thank you for stopping by and wishing you a lovely Thanksgiving!

  15. Beautiful table scape, Kim!! I love the colours….especially how you’ve tied them altogether. Gorgeous! And the stem ware is stunning! Great find on the napkin rings on Etsy too! I do so enjoy our October Thanksgivings…even though it is a busy time of year! Take care my friend.

    1. Thanks so much for your comments and stopping by Charlotte. Yes, the timing of our Thanksgiving can be really busy – a lot depends on the weather for us. I hope you and your family had a wonderful Thanksgiving and I hope your weather is continuing to hold. Take care over there, my friend.
