Home and garden, tablescaping, organization, DIY

Good morning!

Today I am both thrilled and a wee bit nervous (truth be told) to be participating in my first tablescaping blog hop.  I’m joining 19 other very talented stylists for a Valentine’s Day tablescape blog hop hosted by the lovely Rita from Panoply.  Please see the end of the post for links to all the other stylists’ tables for a ton of Valentine’s Day gorgeousness and inspiration.  If you are coming here from Pam at Everyday Living or you have landed here on your own then a very warm welcome!

January and February are typically our “frostiest” months here, so a frosty tablescape seemed natural with the inspiration coming from some frost-tipped hydrangeas and peonies found in HomeSense last year.  The stems were way too long to use on the table, so I simply pried the flowers from them leaving me with four pink hydrangeas and four white peonies.  The color palette was white, pink, and gold – perhaps a little too feminine for the guys but perfect for the ladies!

In keeping with the color theme, I first brought out my basics including a pink velvet table runner, salad plates, placemats, and these frosted white branches.  I set the branches with the ends to the center and then I just placed the flowers on top of the them.

A little tweaking of flowers and branch placement,

and some gold mercury glass votives, and it was done.  Its an easy kind of centerpiece to put together if you are working with faux flowers.

The plate stack started with these pink, white, and gold beaded placemats with a pearl rim.  To them I added a white basket-weaved charger and a basket-weaved gold-rimmed dinner plate.  It was a complete fluke that the charger and dinner plates sort of matched.   The heart shaped plates jumped on top to complete the stack.

I placed some pale pink napkins in between the salad and dinner plates for some contrast between the white layers.

The stemware is gold-rimmed pink wine glasses and a Waterford crystal “water glass”, the latter a wedding gift from literally decades ago.

There is some pink Pinot Grigio waiting to be chilled in a glass ice bucket with gold confetti.

And some artisanal Italian Linzer apricot and strawberry sandwich cookies sitting on a bed of tri-colored cinnamon hearts for nibbles.  Hey, wait a minute.  What happened to the other strawberry cookie?  Somebody has been eating my props!  And since there are only three somebodies in this house if you include Fox the cat (and I’m pretty sure it wasn’t her) and I know it wasn’t me, it shouldn’t be too hard to figure out who…

The light in the dining room is definitely not the greatest at this time of year, so photography can be a bit of a challenge, even with the photography light.  But here are a few more pics of the table.

Resources:

Table runner, napkins, and beaded chargers:  Pier 1 many years ago.

Dinner plates and heart plates:  Both from HomeSense; heart plates maybe a year ago and dinner plates before that???

Basket-weave charger plates:  Williams Sonoma several years ago.

Gold-rimmed pink wine glasses: Anthropologie many years ago, used here.

Frosted hydrangeas and peonies: HomeSense last year.

White frosted branches: From Christmas trees past, and likely from Michaels??

Gold polka dot glass ice bucket:  Can’t remember for sure as it was many years ago – probably HomeSense.

    Rachelle

    1. Ahh Rachelle. Pink is my absolutely favorite color and I am so glad to hear that you are leaning towards it. I can’t wait to see what you do and I’m sure it will be fabulous. So great to hop with you! Thanks for stopping by and commenting and I hope you have a lovely Valentine’s day.

  6. Welcome to the party! What a gorgeous tablescape with your lovely frosted floral centerpiece runner. It is so elegant. I must admit…..the missing cookie could have been me! They look so good and I love cookies! Your white plate stack is so exquisite and adding such delicate pink color is soothing and serene. The candle votives really adds to the tranquility and the chilled wine is a perfect match to the delicious cookies. So warm and inviting even if it is cold and snowy outside. Enjoy your time with the group of tablescape bloggers. So glad you joined. Happy Valentine’s Day.

    1. Marsha, thank you so much for your welcome, warm wishes, and comment. It is definitely snowy in our neck of the woods this time of year, so cozy is good. Hope you stay warm and cozy where you are!

  7. Welcome to the Blog Hop, Kim. So glad you’re joining in today. Loved your faux flower runner. I’ve been looking at faux flowers a lot recently and how to incorporate them in settings. These work really well. The pink glasses are a nice way to pull the setting together along with the pink napkins. the white plate stack sets everyone off so nicely. have a wonderful Valentine’s Day!
    Lynne

    1. Thanks for your welcome Lynne and I’m so glad you enjoyed the table. Real flowers are definitely nicer, but are typically not an (inexpensive) option her in the winter. AT least I don’t have to worry about maintenance for them. Have a wonderful Valentine’s day yourself!

  8. Good Morning Kim, What a beautiful and welcoming table to celebrate Galentine’s Day with your blush pink and frosty white palette! The gold beaded and pearl rimmed placemats are perfect for your plate stack with your sweet heart plates. I love the soft glow of the mercury glass votives, two-tone flatware and pretty blush stems! So happy to have you join us for the hop. Wishing you a Happy Valentine’s Day! ♥

    1. Mary, thank you for your welcome and comments and I an delighted to be joining all you lovely ladies. I’ve definitely had a lot of inspiration from you and I thank you for that. Happy Valentine’s day to you too!

  9. Welcome to the blog hop! Your pretty pastel colors complement each other and together create a soft romantic feel. Quite lovely! I especially love the velvet table runner and pink wine glasses.
(By the way I’ve known a few kitties who regularly ran off with whatever caught their fancy on the table LOL).

    1. Thank you Sandra and I definitely had a good chuckle from your comment about thieving kitties! You will be happy to know that the cookie thief was caught and it was definitely not Fox lol. Glad you liked the table and happy Valentine’s day to you!

  10. A very warm welcome Kim! I have a real soft spot for centrepieces, and yours is so pretty! I love the frosty look, especially since we are pretty frosty up here in Canada as well! Your plate stack is so elegant, and the heart shaped plate on touch is the perfect finishing touch! You have put together a beautiful table to celebrate Valentines Day, and I am so happy you have joined us!

    1. Thank you so much Maureen for your warm welcoming wishes! I am in Canada too, so I am well acquainted with said frost, sadly. However, we have had a very mild January for which I’m thankful although the general consensus is that we’ll pay for it in February! I hope you are staying warm and cozy over there and it was very nice to “meet” you and hop with you. Happy Valentine’s day!

  11. Kim, I was so excited to see your name on the list and welcome! Your tables are always gorgeous and you had no need to be nervous. I love the centerpiece with the frosted hydrangeas and peonies, it is so soft and romantic. Your plate stack is perfect with the cute heart xoxo plate on top. I am crazy for the Anthro wine glasses. I would love to be a guest at your lovely table ♥️

    1. Pam, thank you so much. You have definitely been a source of inspiration and encouragement to me, and I thank you for your welcoming wishes as well. The Anthro wine glasses were from quite a few years ago, but they just seem to go with any pink-themed table I set, whether by design or circumstance. I would be honored to have you as a guest at my table and thank you for your comments lovely lady!

    1. Lauren, thank you so much for stopping by and for your lovely comment. I hope you have a wonderful Valentine’s day as well!

  12. Welcome Kim, Like Kari stated we have been creating tablescapes for years.
Your frosty table is lovely. The pink is lovely, gotta love velvet for a rich luxury look.
The plates are darling and look great with blingy placemats. Special glassware from your wedding is so sentimental. The cookies are almost too pretty to eat. A pleasure hopping along with you.

    1. Hello Linda! Thank you for your comment and yes, I do love some bling! I am thrilled to be joining you ladies, and as you’ve said, you have been tablescaping for many years. Its such a bonus for me as a newbie to be able to draw upon your experience and inspiration, and I am grateful for that. I agree that the cookies are almost too pretty to eat, but our resident cookie thief enjoyed then so much (he does have a sweet tooth)! It was a pleasure hopping with you as well and I wish you the happiest Valentine’s day!

  13. Kim, girrrrl, you had nothing to be nervous about with this gorgeous presentation! I love the soft colors you’ve used, the beautiful plate stack (I love it when pieces go together even when not sourced together), and the glassware. The centerpiece is nice and low with pretty candlelight, and I really love the gold and pink stemware and ice bucket on the table. I’m a big fan of sharing sources for anyone who may interested in trying to find them on their own. Those Linzer cookies wouldn’t last long with me. I look for them every year at TJMaxx of HomeGoods with raspberry filling (because I know my Mr. P. won’t eat them, lol!). Galentine or Valentine – this is a beautiful table to share intimate conversation and a nice meal on. Thank you for being part of the hop, and welcome!❣️

    1. Rita, thank you so much for everything – for inviting me, for your lovely comments, for your welcome, and for all your efforts in organizing these hops. You are much appreciated! Yes, the cookies… hubs has the sweet tooth in the family and those cookies were gone before I had even one bite! I haven’t seen the raspberry ones but they sound equally as delicious. I’m so glad you enjoyed the table and I hope you and Mr. P. have a lovely Valentine’s day!

  14. Your table is beautiful! I love the theme, and your centerpiece with the frosted blossoms on the pink velvet runner is so pretty. I like the sparkle, and I also like that it’s low. Your plate stacks are cute with the pink napkins breaking-up the white plates. The pink goblets tie everything together nicely. Beautiful table, and oh so girly!
    Happy Valentine’s! (or should I say Galentine’s)
    XO,
    Ricki Jill

    1. Thank you so much for your lovely comments Ricki Jill! The frosted flowers were definitely the inspiration point for the table and my favorite color is pink so it was a win-win find for me. Its definitely girly too, and makes me think about how to incorporate a more masculine feel in a Valentine’s table so thanks for the thought provocation too. Happy Valentine’s day to you as well!

  15. Just gorgeous Kim! I love those colors – so soft and romantic! And I’d love to sit at your beautiful table, opening that sparkling wine, and eating the remainder of the cookies! You’re a wonderful addition to this excellent group of tablescapers with all their fabulous inspiration. As Kari said, you DO fit right in! Happy Valentines my friend!

    1. Barbara, thank you sweet friend! I always love to see you here and I am so glad when you pop by – you always leave the loveliest comments and thank you for that as well. Looking forward to chatting soon and wishing you a happy Valentine’s day too!

  16. Welcome! This is so pretty and romantic. Your pink stemware is so pretty and I have never seen pink Pinot Grigio, so I will be in the lookout for it! Happy to hop with you!

    1. Thanks so much Patti! I had never noticed the pink wine before either and they had a couple of different ones in the wine store. I hope you are able to find some. (I haven’t tasted it yet, but I’ve never had a Pinot Grigio that I didn’t like lol). It was great to hop with you as well and happy Valentine’s day!

  17. Kim, your table looks like you are a seasoned table stylist that has participated in many hops.
I love your frosted hydrangeas and peonies. The pink and white candlelight table is very romantic and appealing. The cute heart plates atop a lovely plate stack, along with delicate crystal goblets complete the tablescape beautifully.

    1. What a lovely compliment Bonnie and thanks so much! I confess that I do love playing with dishes and the frosted flowers were the jumping off point for the table. It was wonderful to “meet” you and hop with you. I hope you have a wonderful Valentine’s day!

    1. Cecilia, thanks for your lovely comments and for pinning. It was great hopping with you and wishing you a fabulous Valentine’s day!

  18. This is so beautiful! I love your centerpiece such soft and romantic colors! The shimmery gold chargers add that special sparkle. I would have grabbed one of those cookies too! 😁 Great tablescape! Fun to blog hop with you!

    Karin

    1. Hi Karin! Thanks for your comments and I’m glad that you liked the table. Yes, hubs pretty much ate the rest of the cookies when I said I was done taking pictures and I didn’t even get one bite let alone one cookie! It was really fun to hop with you too and I hope you have a fantastic Valentine’s day!

  19. First of all WELCOME KIM to one of the greatest groups of table stylists! Most of us have been doing this for years and you will see all the original as well as inspirational tables of these ladies and marvel at their ingenuity as I do each time we get together. I love your frosty table and your explanation and step by step in putting it together. Even though we are limited when putting together a table with red and white valentines…I so enjoy the pinks that have a rightful place as do many other pastels. I live in Florida so am limited to faux peonies, tulips and hydrangeas as our climate does not accommodate “bulbs” as you enjoy in the colder climates such as your Canada. So thank you for your inclusion of these as your lovely centerpiece. I also like the pink napkins breaking up the white plate stack. Great job. I hope to get my IT issues resolved….(I am currently working with a tech as we speak) and I will be able to join the group for our next blog hop. Until then…Have a great and wonderful Valentine’s Day! You fit right in.

    1. Oh my goodness Kari. Thank you so much for your lovely comments and I totally agree with you that all you ladies are overflowing with ingenuity and inspiration. I marvel too! I’m sorry about your IT issues and hope that they get resolved too as it can be so frustrating. I’m looking forward to your Valentine’s day table if you are able to do it. Wishing you and the Captain a most glorious Valentine’s day!
