Home and garden, tablescaping, organization, DIY

Good morning!

I hope everyone is doing well out there as we prepare for Christmas – our first Christmas since 2019 in which there are no restrictions on gathering, I might add.  Yay!!  How great is that?  Today I am sharing my Christmas table for the blog.

The starting point for the table was this snowflake embossed table runner that I found in HomeSense not that long ago.  And omigosh, it is made of the softest fleece that I’ve ever felt.  I loved the ivory color and knew I had several tables that would go with it.  It jumped into my cart faster than I could blink!

I’ve had this sled for several years.  It is really a door wreath but it would just bang around on our door in the wind here.  A much better use for it was as a centerpiece on the new snowflake table runner.  This was the only picture I had of it that showed what it looked like before I removed all the greenery and the bow.  I have no idea why these pictures are so big.

Snowman plates gladly joined the table.  They have been waiting for quite some time for the right table runner or tablecloth to come along so that they could come out and play, and this was it.  This particular WS collection had a set of four different salad plates:

A family gathering:

Communing with nature:

A happy conversation among friends:

Some father-son bonding and a geography lesson.  Or maybe it’s a mother-daughter talk?  Hard to tell for sure.

I set the salad plates on a tartan dinner plate which was also from WS.  This pattern has been around for a number of years and is fairly versatile.

I tried several different charger plates, but these ivory faux wood ceramic ones worked the best.  They were a gift last Christmas and sadly, don’t seem to be available anymore.  They complement the ivory background of the salad plates and the snowflake table runner.

Some gold edged flatware picked up the gold rim on the tartan plate.  The tartan napkins are from the same collection as the dinner plates.

Snowflake wine glasses and Waterford crystal liqueur glasses completed the place settings.  We do love our after-dinner liqueurs at Christmas, and everyone has their favorite.  My current favorite is one called Moose Milk lol.

On the centerpiece, I first placed the sled on some gold-tipped evergreen picks that I found at Walmart.   To one end of the sled I added a rustic church that was a gift from my mother many years ago.

On the other end, I placed some bottle brush trees and a rustic, gold-tipped, slightly misshapen tree.  There is another behind the church too.  I added some faux snow, gold glitter, and metallic snowflakes.  Some deer have wandered into the clearing.

All in all, it is a calm and peaceful scene, perhaps inviting a moment’s reflection on the upcoming season.

I have a Christmas carol going through my head as I write this.  And so…

May your days be merry and bright.

And may all your Christmases be white.

Thank you for visiting and wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and a joyous holiday season.

    1. Thanks so much Rachelle! I’m so glad you liked the table and if it puts a smile on your face then my job is done lol. Thank you so much for stopping by and I’m sending wishes for a very Merry Christmas to you and yours. Take care!

  2. From Jenna @ the painted apron: I have been having trouble commenting on some blogs lately and unfortunately yours in one of them. I checked with my blog host WordPress and they couldn’t find anything wrong but I am going to ask them again, it so frustrating! Anyway I LOVE your table and wanted to leave you my comment:

This is beautiful Kim!! I feel like I’ve stepped into a Hallmark movie! The centerpiece you designed on your sled is so creative, I adore the church and the way you styled it to look like a snowy woodsy scene! Your snowman plates are so cute and look great with the plaid dinner plates and wood chargers. I am drooling over the snowflake glasses, I LOVE those! How fun to have an after dinner liqueur tradition, what a lovely idea~ Happy almost December, I hope you have many meals at your fabulous table!

    1. Jenna, I just copied and pasted your comment that you left in my contact. Thank you so much going to all the trouble to comment even when you couldn’t access comments lol. I love to hear from you and your comments are very much appreciated! I also wanted to post your comment in case others were having the same problem that you were and they would know they were not the only ones. I remember the “anonymous” comments issue from several months ago, and I think that WordPress can only fix issues if they are aware of them. So thank you for bringing this to my attention, and I hope that if anyone else is having problems commenting that they would try and let me know. We are in the midst of a frigid cold snap here but I hope that warm gulf breezes are blowing your way. Take care down there lovely lady!

  3. Kim, I absolutely love the table! The snowmen plates are adorable and are perfect placed on the tartan dinner plates. The faux chargers look real. The runner is ideal for the sled and the precious church from your mother. The centerpiece speaks of the Christmas season so beautifully. The frosted snowflake glasses are the perfect complement to your table. I miss the old Pier 1. I could always find unique and affordable items for table styling. Wishing you merriest of Christmas seasons, my friend!

    1. Thank you so much for your sweet comments Pam. I definitely cherish that church from my mom! I miss Pier 1 too, more than I thought I ever would. There just doesn’t seem to be a good alternative, at least that I’ve been able to find here in Calgary. We’re very much looking forward to Christmas this year with no social gathering restrictions in place. I’m also looking forward to your Christmas tablescape next week – I’m sure it will be gorgeous! I wish you the merriest of Christmases as well, dear one.

  4. What a lovely table Kim! Your runner is beautiful, and using the sled was inspired. I’ve had my eye on those tartan plates for quite a while now, and you’ve used them wonderfully – especially with the napkins too. It’s all lovely, my friend!
