Good morning!
Welcome to the spring tablescape blog hop and I’m so glad you are here!! Today I am joining 17 other tablescapers as they share their spring inspiration, hosted by the lovely Rita from Panoply. Thank you Rita! You can find the links to my fellow bloggers’ tables at the end of this post.
But first, a wee bit of news. Here we are on September 24, 2023. Well, hubs is anyway. Yes, we are the proud owners of this piece of dirt. Last fall we signed the papers for a new build that is supposed to be ready in late June. It was so far in the future at the time but the imminent reality is currently staring me in the face. I can’t quite wrap my head around all the stuff we’ve acquired in the last 11 years and will have to move, and I’ll be the first to admit that I’m a tad stressed about it all. It will be an exercise in forced culling for sure and I’m also hoping that I’ll find some things that have gone missing in the process. I know that our fearless leader, Rita, did something similar several years ago and lived to tell about it lol. I only hope that I can too, fingers crossed.
But to the table. The inspiration for this table started with a lemon beaded table topper from HomeSense last year. I passed it up several times, loving the pretty colors but unsure about the lemons. When I went in several weeks later, it was still there only this time they had it hanging on a rack instead of lying on the shelf. And the way the light was shining on it just highlighted all the sparkly silver beads. I can work with lemons, I thought, and home it came with me.
Not too long after that, I found this Rae Dunn vase with a tulip handle It jumped into the cart faster than I could blink. It defined the theme of the table. The weather has been quite nice here lately, and, at the risk of jinxing our temperatures, it feels like spring!
Here is where I was last March, playing with dishes et al.
I found these pretty tulips in our local grocery store and thought they might be a good match for the table. I don’t know if you can quite see it, but the pink tulips have just a touch of green on the tips.
The rest of the centerpiece is comprised of bunnies, butterflies, and a bird perched on a bird house.
A butterfly has landed on the side of the bird house.
Some bunnies have gathered for their annual spring meeting to discuss the upcoming gardening season. More bunnies are on the way…
Hurry! We’re late!
A butterfly-laden sign points the way to hidden (in plain view) alabaster eggs.
The place settings started with a green charger and Mikasa dinner plates – both of which I’ve had for years and are tablescaping staples. On top of the dinner plates are Pier 1 Chloe salad plates inspired by a table that Beth from Whispers of the Heart set several years ago. They are the prettiest sunny yellow color that I have ever seen and I’m hoping they will go with other tables. This photo is maybe a bit washed out, but the one that follows it is more accurate.
I tried several different napkins but I ended up with my ivory eyelet napkins. I thought they highlighted the beaded butterfly napkin rings the best. The napkin rings were inspired by Susan at BNOTP. Thanks Beth and Susan for your inspiration!
Stemware is green wine glasses and clear crackled mimosa glasses. With three married sons and DILs (who each have their own families), I’m ready for either dinner or brunch depending on their schedules.
Flowered flatware is a spring favorite.
These tulips do seem to have a mind of their own…
Resources:
Green wine glasses, chargers, crackled mimosa glasses: Pier 1 many years ago
Mikasa dinner plates: HomeSense many years ago
Flatware: Empress by International from HomeSense several years ago. I’ve seen it in there from time to time. Used here.
Beaded table topper, bird house, running bunnies, and Rae Dunn vase: HomeSense last year
Pier 1 Chloe salad plates and beaded butterfly napkin rings: eBay several years ago (but I’ve seen both recently)
Ivory eyelet napkins: Pottery Barn a couple of years ago, I think. Used here.
Alabaster eggs: Williams Sonoma many years ago but they seem to bring them in every spring. Used here.
Thank you for visiting. Please visit all the other bloggers’ tables at the links below. You are sure to find lots of inspiration!
Kim, I didn’t realize how much I like pink and yellow together. You have really showcased it beautifully. The lemon table runner was a great find! And, I have never seen a Rae Dunn pitcher like that one before. It looks perfect filled with the pink and yellow tulips. Your Chloe salad plates are not only a beautiful color, but I love the pattern too! And, the butterfly napkin rings really caught my eye! Such a lovely node to spring and the Easter season!
Hi Maureen. I really like pink and yellow too, especially if there is some green to go with it. The Rae Dunn pitcher was indeed a lucky find; I don’t have a lot of vases so it is a welcome addition. And I’m hoping that that Chloe plates will go with other tables too as yellow mixes well with a lot of different colors. Thank you so much for stopping by and your lovely comments. We are still very much winter here and I hope your weather is more spring-like. Happy spring and happy Easter to you!
SO darling, Kim! You always amaze me with your centerpieces and how fun and elegant they are! LOVE the bunnies, and your yellow plates too. And HOW exciting that you’re building a house! I’ve always wanted to – I’ll be following along to see how your purging goes. We’re deep into that these days too, although not planning a move. I imagine that would make it all a bit more immediate! Good luck – I can’t wait to see what long lost table setting goodies you find! 😊 So nice hopping with you my friend, and Happy Spring, and Happy Easter!
Hi Barbara! It is going to feel so good to get rid of some of this stuff and have a plan for organizing the rest in our new place. The push right now is to cull the current house down to the bare bones so we can get it listed. If I can squeeze in some purging I certainly will but I suspect I will have to leave that until later. I’m so glad you like the table and thanks for commenting. Always a pleasure to hop with you my friend and wishing you a happy spring and a happy Easter too!!
Kim, you have captured everything fun about spring right here on your table!! I love the dashing bunnies!! They look like they are wanting to be the first to the Egg Hunt! I am going through a move as well, and I have the same yellow salad plates – they stayed in the keep pile!!! It will be hard to part with some of our treasured items!! Best wishes with your move. I hope you have a wonderful Easter.🌼🐥🌷
Ann, thanks so much for your lovely comments. I am thrilled to hear that you have the same plates – they are just such a pretty color – and I can’t wait to see how you style them in the future. Yes, moving is never easy, no matter the circumstances. I wish you best wishes with your move too and I hope you have a wonderful Easter. Take care!
Kim, I adore spring decor with bunnies so I was captivated by yours running across the table. So cute! The tulips are beautiful and yes they do tend to settle in according to their choosing. I for one would love to settle into your cheery table — the colors, the spirit, the pretty touches! The runner is striking and the plate stack is lovely. So fun hopping with you!
Sandra, thanks so much for your lovely comments and for stopping by. I like the galloping bunnies too – they just make me smile. You are welcome to have a seat at my table anytime! I loved your table as well; these hops are so much fun and it’s so great to see everyone’s creativity. It was lovely hopping with you too and I hope you have a fabulous Easter!
Kim, this is absolutely adorable. I love all the bunnies scampering on the table, and I am partial to lemons, whether it’s the real thing or just that sunshine-y color! It makes spring sing, doesn’t it? Love your runner and plates, and those eyelet napkins are perfect. I think those alabaster eggs can’t be beat, at least when grandchildren aren’t the ones playing with them. 😜 What’s on your table defies any weather event that may be happening in your region, and in the most “take that, Mother Nature” way!
Congrats on the new build! You will have lots of blog fodder to talk about, lol, but you’ll be very busy while it’s happening. Be sure to take lots of photos so you can circle back around and see all that you will have accomplished. Good luck!
Thanks for being a part of this hop, and I hope you can make it to the next one (even if you find yourself setting a table in a most creative way).
Happy spring!
Rita
Hi Rita. Thanks so much for the lovely comments. Yes, indeed “take that Mother Nature” as its been snowing here since Tuesday evening with no signs of it stopping. Sigh. I will definitely take lots more pics – I have been taking pictures of the progress on the new build although we have not seen the inside yet. We will be taking some stuff to put in storage this weekend but maybe I’ll try and hold back some tabletop items – it would definitely be a creative table if I was able to set one. Thanks so much for hosting this hop – they are always so much fun and so inspiring!!
Happy March Kim! What a fun journey you’re about to embark on, building a new home! I love your lemon beaded runner and the leaping bunnies are adorable. So many fun elements at your table from the birdhouse, butterfly napkin rings, egg hunt sign and sunny yellow plates. I love your ‘Hello Spring’ pitcher with tulips too. As always, it’s a treat to join you at the table and hop with you. Wishing you a Happy Spring! 🍋🐇🐣 🌷💐
Hi Mary. Yes, the new home build is definitely a journey and one that I will be happy for when it’s over lol. Thank you for your comments and I’m so glad that you liked the table. We are currently very winter-bound here (again) and I’m longing for spring weather and temps. But I have to be patient because March is such an unpredictable month. I’m always a bit envious of those who have daffodils and tulips and whatever else blooming in their yards at this time of year. It was a pleasure to join you on this hop and I hope that your lovely garden is starting to bloom away. Wishing you a lovely spring as well and a very happy Easter!
How exciting to be building a new home! I can’t wait to see what it will look like. Your table is picture perfect with all the cute bunnies. Yellow has always been a favorite color of mine and this hits the mark for me.
Ha Karin – I can’t wait to see what the new house will look like too! I know that you have experience with renovations and I hope those are going well for you. I will try and post a blog when we are all said and done. I’m glad that you liked the table and yellow is definitely a spring favorite, especially if one is so longing for spring in our very much still winter weather here is Calgary. Thank you for your visit and lovely comments. It was a pleasure hopping with you and I hope you have the loveliest spring and Easter!
Kim, congratulations on your new home! How exciting! Your spring table is beautiful with the new lemon runner. It pairs so perfectly with the pretty yellow plates. The gorgeous tulips make the perfect spring centerpiece, and the leaping bunnies are precious! I hope that you have a blessed and happy spring!
Shannon, thanks for your congratulations on the new home. I’m going to try and remember to take lots of pictures so I can maybe do a post about it all. I wasn’t sure about the lemon runner at first, but I’m glad that I got it. I’m pretty sure that I can make some other tablescapes with it. The leaping bunnies are a favorite here and there is just nothing better that fresh tulips – no matter how they choose to behave. Thanks so much for your visit and sweet comments and I’m wishing a very happy and blessed spring and Easter for you too!
Kim I love the bunnies and the lemon runner. I would have went back and got it too. Your table is so full of Spring and the Hello Spring Rae Dunn pitcher is so cute.
We have built several houses and there are decisions to be made every day no matter how organized you think you are. But it is still a wonderful journey and I would do it all over again. Having said that, there will always be something that you will wish you did differently but don’t beat yourself up over it. Nothing is perfect. Happy Spring and Easter….and Happy New Home.
Kari, I have a bunny addiction. There – I’ve said it. I just love bunnies too. I haven’t been able to go into HomeSense or any other places this spring so I don’t get tempted. Especially since I know that I have to pack up everything in this house to either move or donate. We’ve built several new houses too, and I agree that there are always compromises. But I’ve long given up on trying for perfection though – its exhausting lol. Thanks for your wonderful advice and happy new home wishes – they are much appreciated. I’m so happy to be hopping with you and I’m wishing you and the Captain a most glorious spring and a blessed Easter!
How fun a new adventure. your table speaks of spring. Love the beautiful tulips in the Rae Dunn vase. The new lemon beaded runner is so gorgeous. Happy little bunnies to greet us. The yellow dishes are so perfect for spring. I adore the birdhouse. Always a pleasure hopping along with you.
Hi Linda. Yes, the new house will definitely be an adventure, to put it mildly! I really like tulips too but when I went back to get some more, there were none to be had. It seemed like a really short tulip season – only a couple of weeks. Thank you so much or visiting and your sweet comments. It was a pleasure hopping with you too and wishing you a very lovely spring and Easter!
Hi Kim, What a charming ode to spring! I just love the leaping bunny trio–so cute! Happy spring! Blessings, Cecilia @ My Thrift Store Addiction
Cecilia, thanks so much for your comments. I have an obsession with bunnies and I love the galloping bunnies too so I am so glad that you loved them as well. Blessings to you too and wishing you the most loveliest spring and a very happy Easter!
The beaded runner catches the eye immediately, Kim, and sets the stage for the lovely setting to come. the yellow salad plate really picks up on the color in the runner and in the gorgeous tulips in your centerpiece. Lots of beautiful accents with your hopping bunnies and flitting butterflies. The inclusion of so much nature makes for a welcoming setting for the beginning of Spring!
Lynne
Lynne, thanks so much for your comments and stopping by. I have to say that this is the time of year when I am longing for spring – March is typically our snowiest month but winter has definitely worn out it’s welcome. We had several nice weeks of weather earlier in the month but now we are back to winter and snow again. I’ve heard it called false spring and third winter and that was certainly the case here. So butterflies, and bunnies, and tulips just make it more bearable while we wait for true spring. It was lovely hopping with you and wishing you a delightful spring!
Hi Kim! This is adorable! I love the lemon runner and you have styled it with so many pretty and Springy things! Love the Rae Dunn pitcher and tulips are a favorite, I love to see them “dance,” every day they can look so different! I think my favorite thing are the 3 bunnies hurrying to get to the Egg Hunt! Your plate stack is so pretty topped with the lovely yellow plates, crisp white napkin and wonderful butterfly napkin rings~ I like the sweet bird house with the butterfly too, so much cute fun going on! I am excited about your new house, but I understand your worries…I’ve already warned my kids that they are going to have a lot to deal with after I’m gone, 2 houses filled with too much stuff! It’s so much fun hopping with you my sweet friend, and your tables are always works of art!
Jenna, thanks so much for you comments – you are so sweet! Those 3 galloping bunnies are definitely a smile-bringer and I’m glad you liked them. I’m excited about the new house too, just mostly worried about culling and decluttering the old place so we can list it for sale. I rented a storage unit last weekend so that will definitely help and if I have to rent a second one, so be it. It was so much fun hopping with you too my friend, and your table was a delight. Happy vacay and does this mean you will have Easter at the beach? How lovely and happy Easter to you and your family!
You are in for an adventure in moving soon! The Hello Spring pitcher is the very cutest. I also love your plate stacks with the pretty napkins and napkin rings. They are so cheerful. I also love the pretty beaded table runner. I hope you have a lovely spring and a Happy Easter!
Oh my goodness Ricki Jill – I love your reframe of my upcoming moving experience as an adventure! Thank you for that and I’ll try and remember that going forward. You are such a positive person! And yes, I didn’t have second thought about that Rae Dunn pitcher and I love tulips too and they just seem to go together. I can imagine most things on the table being used in a different table. Thank you so much for stopping by and commenting. I hope you have a lovely spring too and happy Easter to you as well!
Kim, I am so excited for you! Building a new home is fun and daunting at the same time. It will force cleaning out which I desperately need to do. I can’t wait to see the reveal!
Buying the lemon beaded table topper was an excellent decision. Then serendipitous to discover the Rae Dunn vase with tulip handle. The dancing tulips are quite lovely in the vase and they do have a mind of their own! Bunnies, butterflies, and a bird house combine to say spring has arrived. The alabaster eggs are so pretty. I love the plate stack and the Chloe salad plates are charming. Butterfly napkin rings add sparkling jewelry to the setting. It is always a pleasure to join you at your table, my friend! Happy Spring!
Hi Pam, yes, a new home is fun and daunting at the same time – you’ve captured the feelings perfectly! And yes, I tried to arrange the tulips but gave up on the idea pretty quickly and just let them do their thing. That’s part of their charm right? I do love them though and when these ones were spent, I went back to the grocery store for more and they were all gone. Wow – not even two weeks of tulips. Sniff. Thanks for stopping by my friend, and its always a pleasure to join you on these fabulous hops. Happy Spring to you too!
Oh what a beautiful table, Kim! And you may be aware of my obsession with bunnies…so this tables cape speaks to me!! How fresh & spring like it is!
A new build – how exciting! We’ve been in our home since 1988 – when we downsize…we’ll have a bit of “stuff” to go through as well! I’m secretly looking forward to it!
Have an awesome day & Easter my friend.
Hi Charlotte! Yes, I confess to having a bit of a bunny obsession too – they are just so cute (as long as they’re not real and eating the flowers in your garden lol). We had a really nice few weeks into March but now we are back into winter with a bunch of snow this week. March is always a bit unpredictable here. A new build is indeed exciting but the flip side is all the culling that I have to do, but I know I will feel so relieved when that is done. Thanks for visiting my friend, and I hope you have an awesome Easter too!
Your beaded table runner is the first element to catch my eye – so pretty! Your table is so welcoming in cheery colors with all of your little bunnies hopping around! The yellow dishes are unique and brighten up your table with a bit of sunshine! Happy Spring!
Patti, thanks for your comments and stopping by. I really like those cheery yellow plates too and I know that I will be able to use them on other tables too so that makes me happy. And anything sunshiny is good here in Calgary in March lol. It was great hopping with you and happy Spring to you too!
