Good morning!
Today I am both thrilled and a wee bit nervous (truth be told) to be participating in my first tablescaping blog hop. I’m joining 19 other very talented stylists for a Valentine’s Day tablescape blog hop hosted by the lovely Rita from Panoply. Please see the end of the post for links to all the other stylists’ tables for a ton of Valentine’s Day gorgeousness and inspiration. January and February are typically our “frostiest” months here, so a frosty tablescape seemed natural with the inspiration coming from some frost-tipped hydrangeas and peonies found in HomeSense last year. The stems were way too long to use on the table, so I simply pried the flowers from them leaving me with four pink hydrangeas and four white peonies. The color palette was white, pink, and gold – perhaps a little too feminine for the guys but perfect for the ladies!
In keeping with the color theme, I first brought out my basics including a pink velvet table runner, salad plates, placemats, and these frosted white branches. I set the branches with the ends to the center and then I just placed the flowers on top of the them.
A little tweaking of flowers and branch placement,
and some gold mercury glass votives, and it was done. Its an easy kind of centerpiece to put together if you are working with faux flowers.
The plate stack started with these pink, white, and gold beaded placemats with a pearl rim. To them I added a white basket-weaved charger and a basket-weaved gold-rimmed dinner plate. It was a complete fluke that the charger and dinner plates sort of matched. The heart shaped plates jumped on top to complete the stack.
I placed some pale pink napkins in between the salad and dinner plates for some contrast between the white layers.
The stemware is gold-rimmed pink wine glasses and a Waterford crystal “water glass”, the latter a wedding gift from literally decades ago.
There is some pink Pinot Grigio waiting to be chilled in a glass ice bucket with gold confetti.
And some artisanal Italian Linzer apricot and strawberry sandwich cookies sitting on a bed of tri-colored cinnamon hearts for nibbles. Hey, wait a minute. What happened to the other strawberry cookie? Somebody has been eating my props! And since there are only three somebodies in this house if you include Fox the cat (and I’m pretty sure it wasn’t her) and I know it wasn’t me, it shouldn’t be too hard to figure out who…
The light in the dining room is definitely not the greatest at this time of year, so photography can be a bit of a challenge, even with the photography light. But here are a few more pics of the table.

Dinner plates and heart plates: Both from HomeSense; heart plates maybe a year ago and dinner plates before that???

The soft pink and white color palette is so romantic and pretty~ I love love love the way you did the flowers down the center, that looks beautiful! Welcome to the Blog Hop, Kim. So glad you’re joining in today. Loved your faux flower runner. I’ve been looking at faux flowers a lot recently and how to incorporate them in settings. These work really well. The pink glasses are a nice way to pull the setting together along with the pink napkins. the white plate stack sets everyone off so nicely. have a wonderful Valentine’s Day!

Kim, girrrrl, you had nothing to be nervous about with this gorgeous presentation! I love the soft colors you’ve used, the beautiful plate stack (I love it when pieces go together even when not sourced together), and the glassware. The centerpiece is nice and low with pretty candlelight, and I really love the gold and pink stemware and ice bucket on the table. I’m a big fan of sharing sources for anyone who may interested in trying to find them on their own. Those Linzer cookies wouldn’t last long with me. I look for them every year at TJMaxx of HomeGoods with raspberry filling (because I know my Mr. P. won’t eat them, lol!). Your table is beautiful! I love the theme, and your centerpiece with the frosted blossoms on the pink velvet runner is so pretty. I like the sparkle, and I also like that it’s low. Your plate stacks are cute with the pink napkins breaking-up the white plates. The pink goblets tie everything together nicely. Beautiful table, and oh so girly!

I love your frosted hydrangeas and peonies. The pink and white candlelight table is very romantic and appealing. The cute heart plates atop a lovely plate stack, along with delicate crystal goblets complete the tablescape beautifully.

First of all WELCOME KIM to one of the greatest groups of table stylists! Most of us have been doing this for years and you will see all the original as well as inspirational tables of these ladies and marvel at their ingenuity as I do each time we get together. I love your frosty table and your explanation and step by step in putting it together. Even though we are limited when putting together a table with red and white valentines…I so enjoy the pinks that have a rightful place as do many other pastels. I live in Florida so am limited to faux peonies, tulips and hydrangeas as our climate does not accommodate “bulbs” as you enjoy in the colder climates such as your Canada. So thank you for your inclusion of these as your lovely centerpiece. I also like the pink napkins breaking up the white plate stack. Great job. I hope to get my IT issues resolved….(I am currently working with a tech as we speak) and I will be able to join the group for our next blog hop.
