Good morning sweet friends and readers!

I hope everyone had a great summer! Here in Calgary it was a mixed bag weather-wise; it rained almost all of July resulting the the 3rd wettest July on record, with the 1st record established in 1927. I, for one, did not mind the rain and cooler temps as we have a long-standing moisture deficit here and the rain helped. But when I say rain, I don’t mean sprinkles – it poured and poured for days on end, delaying many outdoor projects, including our fence and deck. But the deck is almost done and the fence will be completed shortly.

By the time this post goes live, it will be the second of September and the start of all the “ber” months, as my friend, Charlotte, calls them. I know that fall is many people’s favorite season and today, I am joining 14 other wonderfully creative stylists hosted by the fabulous Rita from Panoply in a fall blog hop to share our welcoming-fall tablescapes. The links to the other stylists’ tables can be found at the end of this post.

I really need to stay out of HomeSense starting about late July when their fall and Halloween items begin trickling in. Hydrangeas are one of my favorite flowers and I seem incapable of resisting beaded table toppers. And if they happen to match each other, well, let’s just say that they saw me coming…

The hydrangeas were quite large and the only vase/vessel I had that would accommodate them was the cachepot. But even though they were large, the two hydrangea branches that I purchased were not quite enough to fill the cachepot. Luckily, a trip to Michaels found some goldy-orange happy-faced sunflowers for the gaps. Hard not to love sunflowers…

Some berry and pumpkin picks highlighted some of the darker oranges on the table and the white pumpkins accented the whites/off whites in the beaded topper, chargers, and napkins.

Ah yes, Georgie Girl. She always likes to be in the thick of things and here she is playing with an errant hydrangea leaf while “helping” mom with the flower arrangement.

The plate stack started with some pumpkin salad plates found at Michaels awhile ago. The salads sit on Pier 1’s Harvest Plaid dinner plates that came in four different plaids. I was going to try and make a collage of the dinner plates to save some scrolling, but honestly, I have been having a world of trouble with WordPress and plug-ins lately that I decided against trying anything “new”. WP has been beyond frustrating and so time-consuming; I have to remind myself that I actually pay for this. Anyone else having issues with WordPress?

The dinner plates were in Pier 1 stores in 2017-2018 according to Replacements which is where I found these ones – maybe four or five years ago – some time after they had been discontinued and this is their first time on the blog. Interestingly, if you turn the plates over, they do say “Harvest Plaid” but are made by 222 Fifth even though advertised as Pier 1. Strange and no big deal but it just makes me curious…

Stemware was favorite gold-leafed wine glasses inherited from my mom and crystal water glasses.

Bronze twig flatware is another fall favorite.

A view of the table.

  1. Well…I don’t know how I missed this post!! I love everything about your beautiful table!! You find the most unique & beautiful pieces!! I cannot pick just one thing that I love the most!!

    1. Ha ha Charlotte – happens to us all, I’m sure. So glad you loved the table and I had a lot of fun pulling it together. Hope you are having some lovely end of fall weather there before the cold sets in lol. Thanks so much for your comments and take care over there!

  2. Oh Kim, I love your table, and that beaded runner is fabulous!! Your combination of hydrangeas, sunflowers, and pumpkins is pure seasonal magic! 🌻🎃 The colors just dance together, and I love how you’ve mixed late-summer blooms with early-fall staples. It feels joyful and abundant—such a beautiful way to welcome autumn. And it’s delightful to see Georgie getting in on the fun too!! Such a treat to welcome Fall with you!

    1. Hi Jennifer. Oh my goodness – your comment went to spam and I’m so glad I caught it!! Yikes. Shouldn’t happen again hopefully. Thanks so much for you visit and lovely comments – I love that you said that “the colors just dance together” and that the table feels “joyful” because that is exactly what I was hoping for. Georgie Girl is a character and if I’m doing something, she will be there lol. It was such a treat to welcome fall with you too and I hope you have a fantastic September!

  3. Kim, I love the variety of orange shades you used! The hydrangeas and sunflowers were made to go together and I love how they bring the oranges off the plates for a wonderful focal point. All the plaids are lively and complement each other, the pumpkin plates and the other table elements perfectly. The gold leaves design on the wine glasses are very pretty. I’ve saved my favorite for last — the beaded runner. It’s beautiful! I’ve always been attracted to them but have never bought one. I may have to do so now that I’ve seen your lovely table. Hope you have a long, delightful autumn!

    1. Hi Sandra. Yes, I was so happy when I found the sunflowers that matched the shade of the hydrangeas. Pure luck lol. I am indeed an orange lover except for the most neon shades, and fall is greens, oranges, reds, rusts, and golds, all of which delight and all of which are in the plaid dinner plates. I think I decided in about 10 seconds that the beaded table runner was coming home with me – even though I don’t need another – but because I knew I already had the plates. I hope you are able to find a beaded table runner that sings to you. Thanks for your visit and comments, and it was a pleasure hopping with you. I hope you have a long, delightful autumn too!

  4. Kim, I love those harvest plaid plates, I remember those at Pier 1 because I am still kicking myself for not purchasing them at the time. They look great on your table. I agree- who doesn’t love a sun flower!! Those golf leafy wine glasses are perfect for the season! I love your twig flatware as well. I hope you have a wonderful autumn season- enjoy those ber months!!🧡🍂🍁

    1. Oh my goodness Ann, you have no idea. I kicked myself for not buying them either at the time and then having to buy them from Replacements. But who knew then that Pier 1 would close and we would never have the option from buying from the store. I like the way they frame the salad plates and I convinced myself that they were an investment even from Replacements (and I still believe that lol). Thanks for your visit and sweet comments and I hope you have a wonderful autumn season as well!

  5. Your beaded table runner with those gorgeous pumpkins sets the perfect tone for your table setting. the plate stack is eye-catching and I especially liked the charger with its intricate cutouts. The neutral tone works well against your dark wooden table. The plaid rims around your dinner plates add a nice contrast to the florals and then adding a solid, salad, pumpkin plate adds that touch of whimsy. Loved the deep colors of the flowers in your centerpiece. Twig flatware is a favorite and works well in this setting. Hope you have some nice days before winter really sets in. Have a great Autumn.
    Lynne, Thrifting Wonderland

    1. Lynne, thanks so much for your lovely comments and visit. In retrospect, those chargers turned out to be one of the best purchases ever – so versatile and they go with anything. I laughed at your comment about nice days before winter sets in – so true and so funny! Here in Calgary, we have literally had snow in every month of the year, including the summer months (although very atypical). One major snow event started on September 8, 2014 and we ended up with 16 inches of wet snow over several days – that event has been dubbed “snowtember” and did a lot of damage to trees and shrubs that hadn’t lost their leaves yet. You sound like you have had some experience with our, uh, crazy weather lol. We’ve been seasonal so far this year, fingers crossed, but that can change on a dime. It was great hopping with you and I hope you have a wonderful Autumn!

  6. Kim, Great minds tablescape alike! Your harvest plaid plates from Pier1 are my favorites, I so miss their stores. Your plate stack is perfect for a fall table with your wood chargers, pumpkin plates and pretty fall leaf napkins. I love your beaded pumpkin and sunflower table runner too! We have a HomeSense that opened up about 30 minutes away. . . I need a visit! Your pretty goblets with their gold leaves and twig flatware are perfect finishing touch. Love the ‘behind the scenes’ photo Georgie Girl playing with your hydrangea stem! As always it’s a treat to join you at the table and hop with you! Happy September. 🍂🧡

    1. Hi Mary. Thanks for your lovely comments. The harvest plaid plates are favorites here too and I felt lucky to have found them; the salads can be found on eBay easily but the dinner plates not so much. That sounds so exciting about a Home Sense that opened so close to you and I hope you visit and do a post. I googled it and it is a part of the TJX chains so I’ll be interested to know how different it is from your Home Goods there and our HomeSense here. It’s a treat to join you at the table and hop with you as well. Happy September to you too!

  7. What a beautiful table Kim…the beaded table topper would be hard for me to resist; good choice. I agree with those that said the overhead shot was so pretty. I like that it gives one a great view of the table as if we were there. The white wood charger are so unique, I don’t think I have seen those before. Very well played. The twig flatware, beautiful leaf stemware are perfect…Have a great and wonderful Fall.

    1. Thank you Kari, and I’m glad you liked the overhead shot. The white wooden chargers were a Pier 1 purchase many years ago now, and I have to remind myself that they have been closed here in Canada for more than five years. I really miss their pretty stuff. I loved your table as well and it was great hopping with you. I hope you have a wonderful fall too!

  8. Your table is lovely! I am a sucker for beaded table runners, too, and my daughter LOVES them. I think a few of my favorites have ended up in Ann Arbor, Michigan with her. Your plate stacks are perfect for autumn, and I love your stemware. I think your glasses look so pretty and sparkly with the table runner. I hope you have a Happy Autumn!

    1. Thanks Ricki Jill and I’m so glad to hear that I am not the only sucker for beaded table toppers lol. Maybe your daughter will move back and then you could at least share your favorites… Thanks for the compliments on my inherited wine glass – I’m so happy to have them and grateful to my mom. It was a pleasure hopping with you and wishing you a very happy Autumn as well!

  9. Love this look, Kim! Mary used those plates in her post, and I said they reminded me of the Wms Sonoma plaid chargers they sold (maybe still do) for fall. I didn’t realize those have subtle differences among the four – lovely! Of course the post’s namesake floral arrangement caught my eye, but that beaded runner really grabs my attention. I love it. The glassware is beautiful, and looks like the leaves are dancing across the bowls. How sweet to have inherited them from your mom. The twig flatware is perfect, and the entire tablescape set on the wood surface really stands out in the overhead shot. Beautiful! Kim, thank you for joining the tablescape blog hop once again, and bringing your very wonderful skill to inspire!

    1. Aw, Rita, thanks so much for your comments and for organizing these fabulous hops! I know the WS chargers you are referring to – they were grey, brown, and orange, if I remember correctly. They’ve been discontinued (at least here in Canada), but PB has some new ones in this year (Woodrow Plaid) and they are just gorgeous, but very pricey. I wondered if I could DIY some if I could find some pretty plaid fabric. Hmmm. Thanks for having me along and I wish you a most wonderful fall and happy September!

  10. Hello Kim, your table is lovely for welcoming fall. The beaded runner is gorgeous along with those fabulous chargers. The pumpkin plates are darling on top of the plaid plates. The bronze leaf twig flatware is so charming. A beautiful centerpiece with fall blooms against the white tureen. The napkins rings are perfect. How special to have your mother’s leaf goblets. Love the overhead shot. Happy September. Always a pleasure joining you.

    1. Thanks so much Linda! These hops are always so great with so inspiration. Mom’s stemware is so versatile and I’m delighted to have it. It’s a pleasure joining you too and I wish you a fabulous September!

  11. Kim you crack me up!! I laughed out loud at your assessment of your fall shopping challenges! I’d say the beaded topper was totally worth it! Love your hydrangeas and that beautiful cachepot too – isn’t it so fun to have a “helper” when you set the table? I’m sorry you’re having WordPress trouble. My ability to work with it comes and goes, but there’s never a dull moment, right? But back to the nicer topic of your gold leaf wine glasses, darling salad plates, and twig flatware, which are lovely! Your whole table definitely welcomes fall in a beautiful way!! Take care up there my friend – always wonderful to hop with you!

    1. Barbara, I’m so glad you think the beaded topper was worth it – they are very difficult for me to resist lol. And yes, Georgie Girl is always trying to “help” (read get in the way of everything) but she always makes me laugh. I think I’ve figured out the WP issue, fingers crossed but you are right, there’s never a dull moment. Thanks for your sweet comments and you take care too, my friend. It’s a pleasure to hop with you too!

  12. What a charming autumn table! Love the plaids, the twig flatware, the little pumpkin dishes, the gorgeous beaded runner, and the lovely fall flowers. Everything inspires! Happy Autumn!

    1. Thanks so much Sarah for your lovely comment. Fall tables are always so much fun to set and I just love fall colors. I hope you are getting some cooler weather now – take care down there!

  13. Good morning, Kim. Like Jenna said, the white tureen filled with autumn flowers definitely grabs your attention. The beaded runner is perfect for fall and would be left on my table throughout the season! I seem to love plaid anything, especially plates. I miss Pier 1. Pumpkin salad plates add a pretty finishing touch along with the bronze twig flatware. What a treasure to have the gold-leafed wine glasses from your mom, they are beautiful!

I always enjoy your tables, dear one. Happy Fall!! Have I ever mentioned that we visited Calgary by way of a helicopter tour? We did stay a couple of days and had one of the best dinners!!

    1. Thanks Pam! I love plaid anything too, and I didn’t have anything else that would fit the flowers other than the tureen. Glad I was able to use it again though. I don’t think you’ve ever mentioned that you visited Calgary via helicopter tour – that must have been a lot of fun. I’m happy to hear that you had one of your best dinners – where did you dine? I’m so happy for you that we are in your favorite season, my friend. Enjoy to the fullest!

  14. How pretty, Kim! You have styled hydrangeas, pumpkins, plaids and florals to create such a charming setting. I really love your flatware, too! Blessings, Cecilia @ My Thrift Store Addiction

    1. Thanks so much Cecilia. The flatware is always fun to use on fall/Thanksgiving tablescapes. I hope you are having a wonderful fall!

  15. This is gorgeous Kim! You certainly captured Fall! The centerpiece with the white tureen filled with Fall flowers grabs your attention right away. I understand why you couldn’t resist the beaded runner at Home Sense, beautiful! Your plate stacks are perfect with the white wooden chargers, plaid dinner plates, and cute pumpkin salad plates, and I’m drooling over the gold leaf stemware. I love the shots from above the table that show how beautifully everything comes together!

    1. Jenna, thanks so much for your sweet comments. Yes, the gold leaf stemware is definitely a fall favorite. I missed you this time around – maybe next time? I hope you are doing well. Take care down there!
